And with that false and agenda driven statement you quickly demonstrate ignorance of the subject you opine on. The NRA is not an organization of gun manufactures as you seem to think and assert. Rather, it is an organization of grass roots members. There is a trade organization of gun manufactures which is the NSSF.

Been gone awhile. It’s like I never left, the posts are timeless; arguements the same. The OP made me laugh, it’s the same ‘old live by the sword… baiting statement. Well, the living die more frequently than the dead…. So there.

Your claim no one is coming to confiscate guns is already proven to be false. They already have. I have to ask. Do you live in America since you are not aware of recent and very public US history?

And fore those totally unaware of history there is Native American gun confiscation at the Wounded Knee Massacre.

Do liberals think guns should be taken away from the bodyguards of people like Michael Bloomberg? Or do they get special rights due to being rich?

People are not going to give up Constitutional rights based on liberal "studies." Once again I have to ask. Why don't liberals attempt to repeal the 2nd Amendment? Put up or shut up. Something like 20 States now allow Constitutional carry. The number is growing. Liberals that don't like this should stay in NYC, CA, MD, or some such place and feel safe.

Yet another lie that uses cherry picked stats in an attempt to prove something that is known to be false.

    Statistics are fun.
For example, the US happens to be in the top 10 countries with the highest murder rates.
But if you eliminated just 5 US cities, all democrat run mind you, the US wouldn't make the top 50.
It seems like the politics, demographics and agenda of the party controlling the city is a bigger factor than the gun.
And statistically, of all the guns in the USA, .002% of them are used in crime.
Yet gun control focuses on the 99.998% that have nothing to do with crime.
After Sandy Hook happened, Obama ranted and raved about gun control.
He assigned the CDC with the daunting task of investigating gun ownership and crime and the relativity.
But then he went silent and never mentioned it again.
The reason is simple.....the CDC determined that guns are used between 1 an 2 million times every year in the USA
to stop, thwart or prevent crime by law abiding gun owners.
No way would Obama want to tell that truth to get in the way of his agenda.

And I can read the very bias in the opening sentence.

It must be remembered, "homicide" is not the same thing as "murder". If said individual lives with me and then attacks me with a baseball bat, I have every legal right to shoot him in self-defense. And that of course is a "homicide".

    However, it is not "murder".

Knowing what words actually mean can be amazing. Especially in how they can be used to mislead people into statistics taken out of context.

I love how people can use statistics to prove their claims, not realizing that others often know them better than they do.

Hell, a decade or so back during the height of the Iraq and Afghan Wars, people would often scream at how many were dying in each country. And blame it all on the US.

But funny, nobody seemed to care that there were more people being killed in a single city in Mexico than both of those countries combined. And that for over a decade prior to that spike in murders it had been known for the huge numbers of women that simply vanished there.

Whenever I see somebody using some "study" to try and prove a point, I tend to look at it with critical eyes. Specifically looking for misleading things like trying to equate "murder" and "homicide" as the same thing, just like as many try to turn "sexual assault" into "rape" because they do not know (or not care) what the actual study is even about.

And the funny thing is, I have owned a gun for most of the last 40 years. And in all those decades, I have never had to pull it on anybody. But my wife did about 13 years ago. When she was on oxygen and going through chemo after I had to return to my deployment. The alarm went off on her car, and she went out to find 4 guys had broken the window and were trying to steal it. One approached her with a metal pipe, and odds are the only reason she is still alive is that she pulled my pistol out of her robe and pointed it at the guy.

He quickly dropped the pipe, and all four took off running. And she was even amazed when the cops showed up and asked her why she did not shoot them. But she had lived for too long in California, and did not realize it was different in Texas. There, you have a good chance of being charged because they may say that a metal pipe raised in a threatening manner is not a "deadly weapon" and the shooting was unjustified.

What everyone is missing is the why.

Some significant percentage of people who are gun fanatics NEED guns for protection because of the life they live. Because they already live a more violent or dangerous or illegal life than most, they are more likely to die accordingly.

Said another way, live by the sword, die by the sword.
