“The inflation reduction act, signed by Joe Biden earlier this week, passed without a single GOP vote”

“But red states are likely to see major benefits from its investments in clean energy — just as they have in the past — despite protests by their governors over the climate package. Republican-led states are some of the largest wind and solar energy producers in the U.S. and have benefited greatly from the past decade of expansion — not only through job growth, but through lower ratepayer prices.”

Think anymore those opposing the measure will ever give Biden credit?

Obvious those Red States will benefit greatly from the bill, yet, for what has to be political reasons, they opposed the measure outwardly. They certainly aren’t going to reject the programs offered since it profits their citizenry

Could it be then that the partisan divide over the environment is emotional rather than rational?

According to economic history, the knowledge of how economies respond to specific stimuli, the knowledge of each state's strengths, weaknesses, and existing infrastructures, the knowledge of how the federal funds for each program will be distributed among the states, etc etc etc.

In other words, it's complicated, and requires more than the simple, easy answers preferred by those who prefer to pass judgment without doing research themselves.

Common sense, if your State either leads the country or is one of the leading producers and users of solar/wind energy how are you not going to benefit from programs aimed at assisting solar/wind entities?

Yes that is what people really really want..... this all over the land they love...

You call it a benefit because you don't have to live around these loud, unsightly monstrosities. They should be forced on blue states and blue cities.

This is what you really believe the American middle class wanted? More frigging windmills? Talk about being out of touch..... that is just ridiculous. NOBODY WANTS THIS, especially not the supposed "beneficiaries". You want them, build them with your own money and put them in your neighborhoods and open spaces.

for your reading displeasure. Not only do we have laws protecting bald and golden eagles, but the left is nearly dead silent on the bird killing machines that leak oil, freeze up in winter, don’t work when there’s no wind, and can’t be recycled. Where are the environmentalists?

Windmills projected to kill 20,000 golden eagles by 2050... that's 50% of the present population.

If they can pass an inflation reduction bill that spends billions of dollars we don't have that's amazing. Seems to me the more fake paper dollars you spit out the more inflation you get.

A little disingenuous. It should be: "Some people in red states will reap inflation bill's benefits while most people all over the US will suffer under higher inflation."

Also disingenuous. About 600 die annually in collisions with cars, wind turbines and power lines. If all of those 600 were due to windmills, that would only be 16000 over the next 27 years. Most sorces that I've found put the actual number much less that that (between 50 and 500). Most are killed by lead poisoning.
