“Republican-controlled states have higher murder rates than Democratic ones"
"Republican politicians routinely claim that cities run by Democrats have been experiencing crime waves caused by failed governance, but a new study shows murder rates are actually higher in states and cities controlled by Republicans"

"A comparison of violent crime rates in jurisdictions controlled by Democrats and Republicans tells a very different story. In fact, a new study shows that states won by Trump in the 2020 election have higher murder rates than those carried by Joe Biden. The highest murder rates, the study found, are often in conservative, rural states."

"Murder rates in the 25 states Trump carried in 2020 are 40% higher overall than in the states Biden won"

"Although murder rates tend to be highest in the South, the biggest increases in 2020 were found in the Great Plains and Midwest, according to Third Way. The largest jumps were in Wyoming (91.7% higher than in 2019), South Dakota (69%), Wisconsin (63.2%), Nebraska (59.1%) and Minnesota (58.1%). Wyoming, South Dakota and Nebraska all voted for Trump and have Republican governors."

"Few large cities are governed by Republicans — only 26 of the 100 largest U.S. cities have Republican mayors — making apples-to-apples comparisons difficult. But cities that do have Republican mayors do not have lower murder rates than similarly sized Democratic-led cities, the study found."

Called common sense, coupled with "Adults who live with a gun owner face twice the risk of death by homicide" (- https://www.latimes.com/science/stor...th-by-homicide), validates the fact that the more guns present the greater the possibility of being killed by a gun

But the right keep telling us, the more guns the better

Examining states' murder rates is essentially looking at states' black population via proxy. The correlation between murder rate and % of a state's population that is black is that strong. So yes, Republicans win in states in the South, which also have a high % of black population, and a correspondingly-high murder rate.

It takes profound levels of gullibility to believe that living with a gun is what doubles the risk of death by homicide. This phrase is fed to people to rebleat for the purpose of misleading those with little to no critical thinking ability. Killers, looking for victims, meet beforehand and decide to limit their targets to only those that live with a gun? Really?

Even if the stat is correct, the fact that they live with a gun has nothing to do with the criminals behavior.

Obviously, the point of this thread is to move parameters around to make Republicans appear on the wrong side of violent crime. Even though Republicans are more likely to support a stronger police force and armed citizens and dems push the opposite.

What I see here is more of an opposition to a political party than a genuine interest in protecting human life. Since we are broadening the parameters, lets go big!

Globally, the number one killer is government.
The vast majority of victims are unarmed.

Which party supports more government and opposes private citizens carrying guns?

And which party doesn't seem to grasp that long with escalating gun ownership we see our gun murder rate increasing correspondingly. MORE GUNS BRINGS MORE GUN MURDERS !!!!

Your post is myopic to say the least. Do you understand the difference between correlation and causation?

How about more High school drop outs, more fatherless homes, less opportunity, and more dependency on the government are the cause? Have you considered that may be the case instead?

Why the weird focus on "GUN MURDERS"? Are murders committed with other weapons more noble or less problematic in your eyes?

Statistics have always been the enemy of conservatism.

Poverty + undereducation + gun culture = high homicide rate.

... because they wish to ban guns from ordinary citizens (only allowing the government & their brown-shirts to have them) because they wish to make ordinary citizens into submissive subjects to be ruled over rather than free people.

"It's that nasty assault weapon that's killing people, see... it has nothing to do with the person's intentions"... "just give us all your guns and homicide will disappear overnight... we promise!"

Remember, it's a "safety precaution". Don't you want to be safe? ;)

If by "conservatism" you mean LIBERALS, then I would agree with you.

    Conclusion does not follow.
