“We have to practice decorum”

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., delivered a decisive blow to Trump Friday, ruling in favor of CNN and the news media.

Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee, ordered the White House to restore correspondent Jim Acosta's press credentials, something the White House said later it would do.

Trump reacted predictably. He defied the court's ruling. He said the White House is crafting new “rules and regulations” for reporters. Trump threatened to shut down future press interactions if a reporter is "acting out of sorts."

“We have to practice decorum,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “So we're setting up a certain standard, which is what the court is requesting.”Trump predicted that if journalists do not abide by the new rules, “we'll end up back in court and we'll win.“

“More importantly, we'll just leave. And then you won't be very happy, because we do get good ratings,” he said.

All of which is pure B.S. His mindless rhetoric was expected, but he will do nothing. With Mueller and his questions which Trump claims he answered easily -- more B.S. -- the last thing Trump needs now is a fight with the judicial branch and a major escalation of his war on the press. He is not to be taken seriously.

One reason being, it is Trump who is lacking decorum in his measly three solo press conferences. Will he follow any hypothetical rules of decorum?

Trump himself frequently lashes out at reporters or cuts them off when he does not like their questions. As he did with Acosta.

Acosta had asked the president about the racist, anti-immigration ad from his re-election campaign that was subsequently banned from airing by Facebook, NBC, Fox, and elsewhere. Trump tore into the journalist after refusing to answer the question in a truthful manner.

“I’ll tell you what, CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them,” said Trump to Acosta. “You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN.”

He told CNN's Abby Philip she had asked a “stupid question“ when she inquired about whether he appointed Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general to sway the Russia investigation.

Trump accused PBS NewsHour's Yamiche Alcindor of asking a “racist question“ when she questioned him about reports of voter suppression in the midterm elections.

When asked whether his rhetoric was encouraging political violence, Trump accused the reporter of “creating violence by your questions.“

Trump called journalist April Ryan a "loser" who "doesn't know what the hell she is doing" while speaking to reporters at the White House.

There is little doubt the White House press corps would welcome rules of decorum if the President will faithfully abide by his own rules.

 

How is that defying the ruling.? Setting up rules for decorum appears to be the perfect solution. Now all reporters will know exactly what is expected of them.

 

Trump is defying the ruling in this way. If he doesn't get his way, he says, "we'll just leave."

But you missed two points. First, Trump lacks decorum more than anyone else in the room. Will he follow his own rules of decorum? Two, he's bluffing. He has no intention of pissing off the courts and escalating his war against the press. He has enough problems with Mueller and the loss of the House.

He has done this countless times in the past, create a controversy then go on to something else, probably another controversy. Actually he already has.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office today that he answered Mueller's questions "very easily" this week about the special counsel's ongoing probe into 2016 election interference and possible ties between Russia and the president's campaign. What a bunch of B.S.

Trump did not say when he would turn over the answers to Mueller.

 

How is that defying the ruling?

 

Hopefully this new attempt at "decorum" does away with the practice of sending a Clueless WH Intern to Commit BATTERY on reporters.

 

Who likes Acosta's blatant accusations disguised as questions?

Trump has to deal with those punks. But he also gets to establish rules for them to follow.

 

Are you saying the courts issue rulings based on how pissed off they are at someone?

I thought they were supposed to issue them according to the law.

 

How can you make sense and have a straight face? When talking to the Democrats/their lacky supporters, you have to show them a laugh at them.

 

What I don't understand is, why did she go to her knees? That looked very strange.

 

Trump giving lessons on decorum is like a two dollar hooker giving a sermon on the virtue of celibacy.

Which is the cause and which is the effect? I gave some examples of how Trump went out of his way to insult reporters. There are countless other examples because he does it constantly.

Robert, if someone insults you, are you going to respect that person?

 

There was no defying the order. Show specifically what he is doing that is contrary to the order. For example. The order told him to do something and he refused to do it.

 

Trump should either ignore the court or give the press their briefings on twitter.

 

Why do you think I never respected Acosta yet respect others who asked Trump questions. I never would stand still for what Trump put up with. Reporters encounter a lot of people and not all of them friendly.

 

Acosta is an animal.

He is incapable of acting professionally and functioning in a civil society.

 

And the laughable exaggeration of the week goes to . . .

 

What better way to flush his whole "rule of law" talk further down the toilet?

 

Acosta is perhaps the worst of the worst when it comes to asking questions. Give me any other reporter over him. Give me the black woman Alcindor anytime over him.

 

The court wants Trump to come up with rules.

 

Not sure why the off-topic race baiting is necessary, but I've criticized Acosta for his action and already agreed there was justification for yanking his clearance. That's a far cry from parroting "unfit to live in civilized society" nonsense.

 

And you said he should ignore the court. Whoops.

 

I do not recall me saying that. No order of a court should be ignored.
