1 in 5 evangelicals think most Muslims anti-American

Article refers to US Muslims, not Muslims in general, sorry I didn't catch the missing 'US' in my title before posting.

Let's dive into some numbers describing white evangelicals' perceptions and opinions about Muslims:

Nearly one in five (18 percent) told researchers "almost all" or "most" U.S. Muslims are anti-American. That's a higher percentage than white mainline protestants, black protestants and Catholics -- the only other faith groups used for comparison in the Pew report.
A whopping 46 percent said "about half" or "some" of Muslims in the U.S. are anti-American. That's also higher than other Christian groups.
At 49 percent, they're more likely than any other Christian group to answer "no" when asked if U.S. Muslims face "a lot" of discrimination.
Roughly three in five evangelicals (61 percent) say they want the next president to speak bluntly, even critically, about Islam. No surprise here: that's significantly more than any other Christian group. People who said they wanted the next president to speak bluntly about Islam said Donald Trump or Ted Cruz would be good or great presidents.
With 43 percent saying they know a Muslim, they are less personally familiar with Muslims than other Christian groups.
The religious "nones," by the way, are at the opposite end of the spectrum on each point. They're the most likely to say they know a Muslim and to think Muslims face a lot of discrimination. They tend to think only a few or no U.S. Muslims are anti-American and want the next president to speak carefully about Islam.

It's worth stating plainly that not every evangelical fits the stereotype outlined in the above statistics. CNN's Daniel Burke recently identified seven categories of evangelicals. (There are even liberal ones!)

What I find funny is that these people are so delusional that they think Muslims are by and large anti-American yet do not face a lot of discrimination. I'm sure these people are very accepting of Muslims and don't themselves discriminate at all...

 

Many Muslims believe there is a dar-al-Islam and a dar-al-harb, the "house of Islam" and the "house of war", respectively. The house of war is any land not under the suzerainty of Islam. That's a conversation that people in the West should be having, but thanks to political correctness, we can only manage to talk about those poor poor Muslims who are so discriminated against, they flood in by the millions each year.

 

Sunday is the most segregated day in America and is also the same day that Evangelicals will go to Church where some churches will disparage the Muslim faith as a cult, evil, un American, etc. Simply put, the study is a reflection of what Evangelicals preach to their congregants.

 

And the popular Christian hymn goes "Onward, Christian soldiers marching on to war....." Even in Christianity, war is taught as a belief of how we view our religion and the threats therein. Ironic, isn't it.

Islam commands Muslims in America to be anti-American, by defintion. Nationalism and patriotism is forbidden in Islam.

So they have to put Islam before America if they are to be good muslims.

Its starting to make sense why the far left and muslims are natural allies, eh? Both America haters.

 

I think you will find it is "marching as to war" which an entirely different sentiment.

Why do you care what Christians think of Muslims? Do Muslim Americans think Christians are anti-American? Would you care to know? Me neither.

It's a fact, social progress comes against the tide of religious ignorance about the world, society, and human nature.

 

Communist Russia was not religious at all. How'd that "progress" work out for them? Hmmmmm..? Maybe you think former East Germany, where religion was squashed was a paradise of "social progress"? "Nordic Democrat" say's it all. I'll call you a Socialist, and I'm saying it as an insult.

 

Haha, I don't take it as an insult at all because I understand what the word means. Look at western europe and scandinavia, MUCH more social progress there, and much more secular.

 

Then why is it still alive and well in progressive society?

 

Reality would argue with that. Religion is a huge part of an organized, advanced society. Moral code matters and the advancement of morals are directly tied to the growth of humanity.

 

Scandi Who via? Oh yeah, that place. We have a place that size too, it's called the city of Houston. Do you honestly think that a country the size of the U.S. can or should be run the same was as a country smaller than one U.S. city? I too understand what Socialism is. It is the Diet Coke of Communism. Kind of like saying "We won't take all your stuff, just half of it. You're welcome!!!"

 

Morality maters, of course, but nobody's morality should come from bronzed age books soaked in blood, racism, genocide, and ignorance. Most of us understand that we have an innate morality, as well as thousands of years of human progress, despite religion being an anchor to which our progress has been stifled.

 

BTW, "Much more social progress"???? You mean like Sweden getting ready to deport 80,000 people? You mean like Italy hiding statues so as not to offend Iranian leaders? That kind of "social progress"? You're in fantasy land!

 

Maybe you should look at a map, your geography needs some work haha. And no, that is not what socialism is at all. Socialism is the public ownership of the means of production. Whether that is Stalinist big government thugs, or in the modern case, worker cooperatives that run within a marketplace. There are so many varieties of socialism, you should read up on it.
