http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...on-mount-vernon-to-talk-convention-of-states/ Nearly 100 lawmakers descended upon Mt. Vernon to discuss the possibility of states amending the Constitution, thus bypassing the federal government entirely. Under Article V of the Constitution, it's possible but never has been attempted. For the first time in US history, states are seeking to impose their will on the federal government. With a poll showing that 74% favor a balanced budget amendment and 75% showing that voters favor term limits in Washington, the time is now!! Voters ran to the DNC after 8 years of "W". Then they ran to the GOP in 2010 after only 2 years of Obama. Now I think voters have had enough of both parties and realize that the problem is the federal government itself.
Is that all? With an approval rating for Congress of only 5%, it's about damn time!! This will make Congressmen pee their pants. Not to worry though, by the looks of them these dinosaurs are already peeing their pants with regularity with diapers already on in anticipation.
Glad to see somebody at least TRYING to protect us from the idiots-in-charge. Enough is indeed enough.
I'm waiting for the hysterical rants from liberals who want to protect career politicians from collecting their million dollar retirement policies and protecting their right not to pass budgets, let alone balance one.
Although we are outgunned, although opposition may be bought off to defend the status quo, the fight is exhilarating!! Just because we may not win the fight, does not mean it should not be fought nor does it mean that our cause is not just.
Isn't he too senile to know what day it is let alone what is going on in the world around him? After all, he's been in office before the dawn of the 20th century.
This would be the second time. The States turned the Articles of Confederation into what is now the Constitution. Since then, the States have not come together. I thought we are only a couple of States shy of being able to call a CC. Do you know where that stands now?
"...the problem is the federal government itself." Taxcutter says: Exactly. The less of it the better. An Article V convention cannot be overruled by either the President or Congress. It submits proposed amendments TO THE STATES (not Congress) and the STATES (not Congress) can ratify them as they see fit. I'd say the 17th Amendment is in big trouble...minimum. I expect the Commerce Clause will be clarified and authority for regulation will be severely circumscribed.
I don't know exactly. All I know is that we need to appeal to a populace burned out with both parties. A populace who has only seen decline for about half a century. A populace that both sides are sold out to corporate America but think one is less so than the other. LOL. Enough!! The challenge is greater than climbing Everest. In fact, the odds are probably better reaching the summit of Everest.
I think it has more to do with the fact that he has more boobs that do his bidding in Congress than Hue Heffner, and as long as the money is there he can buy and sell anything he desires, including seats in Congress.
It's like Pedo Joe Pa of Penn State. They should hang it all up but can't. Essentially they have become their profession. It's all they literally have and its all they are. Without it, they would probably die, so they have a death grip on their position until they do actually die. The difference is, scandals bring people like Joe Pa to their knees as where in Washington scandal are an expectation to holding power. Those who are not dirty are suspect and will be disposed of because they like knowing they have dirt on people in order to help keep their mouths shut. - - - Updated - - - The country? Not so, just look down.
Wow, comparing a man who has served his country to a pedophile. Think about that for a moment. Why does that matter? If he's so senile, he could have been kicked out of office a long time ago. The voters want him so they keep reelecting him. I don't like Washington, but even I can tell you that's not true. Scandals bring people down, it wreaks a party's credibility. What happened after Nixon resigned, the GOP became a symbol of corruption and abusing power.
Today we have political leaders who defend aborting our unborn children. Those that live are forced to go to public schools that rank 48th in the world. Then to finish them off, they are left with so much debt that their future looks grim to say the least. It's what I call the progressive war on children. Think about that for a moment.
With a Congressional approval rating of only 5%, I dare say that any credibility is completely gone. Nixon was impeached for stealing secret information in Watergate, but Obama does this with every man, woman, and child on the planet via the NSA, yet nothing is done about it. Everyone knows that both parties are corrupt beyond measure, so who do they turn for help?
McCain Needs to go wsith the rest. He has turned soft over the years. They all need to go every one of them . We need to start over.
It would interesting to see what happened when the 34th state joins the call. Would Hussein Obama use force to disperse the Convention? Would Hussein Obama simply ignore new Amendments? He ignores the one on the books.
