Well you can't tow a 20' speed boat with a Citroen.

Edit to add-I did drive one of them new Fiat 500 from Fl to WI after I drove a car down for a sibling. Took that rental back home. I was impressed with that little Fiat. 40mpg with a six speed automatic transmission. It goes from 60mph to 90mph pretty darn quick. But it really sucked in the snow and I wouldn't want one up here unless I had another vehicle for winter.

Joe Biden will see to it that our elderly citizens don't go unpaid.

You can't if you don't know what you have no idea what you're talking about. If you can't put it on a bill, you can't DO it.

It's just Republican demagoguery. When you start saying, "ok... then we'll cut this" they'll just say "oh no... we didn't mean THAT!"

Only the most gullible fall for it.

So binary thinking was all you had? For a second there I thought you had a serious argument to make. Obviously not. Thanks for playing...

So where does the increased spending end?

Hey, if the government defaults, it cannot pay its bills. If that happens, who are you to decide that retirees get preferential treatment in terms of government checks versus the rest of the people who rely on government either for a paycheck, or for service provided? What about the troops? Will they have to miss a check?

I am just wondering how the righties, who want to cut down government, think? Do they think that the default would only affect those on the Trumper no-likey list? It almost seems they think that way.

It doesn't. Next time the GOP gets control of government, they push through another tax cut, while increasing spending, resulting in endless red ink, and then blame the Dems for the deficit. It's a never ending cycle. But, tax cuts pay for themselves, right? When you have convinced half of the population that they can get something for nothing, there is a problem.

Sure you can. You do it just like I said. You tell everyone to reduce by X amount. That does not mean necessary that things do not get done, it just means they get delayed by a period of time. Also, that does not mean that every single government organization gets reduced by that X amount. For example, the Department of Homeland Security gets reduced by X amount. It then becomes their job to tell subordinate units how much they reduce. Some of their subordinate units reduce Y amount and some by Z amount. It has been done this way for hundreds of years. Nothing new here.

Passive voice much? It would require an order from Biden to refuse to service the debt. She'll refuse his unconstitutional order, and resign, and if she doesn't she should be impeached for violating the 14th amendment.
Continuing 2022 spending levels, which were 26.5% higher than 2019, the last year before COVID, is hardly austerity. Biden/Dems are trying to make our COVID emergency spending the budget baseline, because they see themselves as entitled to loot the American People for their own gain.

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Federal government total expenditures [W019RCQ027SBEA], retrieved from FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis; https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/W019RCQ027SBEA, May 20, 2023.

Polling is clear, the American People expect Biden to negotiate and curb runaway spending, just as Americans have had to do in the Biden/Dem era of inflation that is reducing our real wages.
If Yellen is dumb enough to obey Rigged Bribed Joe's unconstitutional order to force a default, and she isn't, she'll resign rather than carry out his unconstitutional order, she will be promptly impeached for violating the 14th amendment.

Poll: Americans want less government spending

    Mar 29, 2023

'A new AP/NORC poll finds 60% of adults saying the U.S. government spends too much, while 16% say it spends too little and 22% say it spends the right amount. Majorities of voters in all age ranges ...'

You hold an extremist partisan position, the House GOP, which is the only representative legislature that has passed a debt ceiling increase, occupies a position broady supported by nearly all elements of American Society.

'Majorities of voters in all age ranges, Republicans and independents all agree with the sentiment that the government spends too much, while Democrats are divided on the question.'

I think you might be afraid the constitutionally conservative policy would reduce reduce the number of unemployed in the private sector and increase the unemployment in the parasitic public sector.

I would be tickled pink if SS ended. I would rather be ended by a plan rather than abruptly but I hate SS.

Social Security is for the simple minded people who can’t even figure out their own self interest. If I took my social security money and invested it I would make more than I would ever get out of social security. So if it ended, only those who couldn’t plan for their own future would be hurt. Stupid…. Tends to hurt.

You think taking loans to pay bills is actually paying bills?

I really don’t understand this and I wonder how many posters here do. The Constitution says the debt shall not be questioned. The Republicans are advocating some unknown means of violating the Constitution and the Democrats are pretending it’s a real threat and problem.

HOW IS IT A PROBLEM? Why couldn’t Biden just ignore this whole thing and just order the Treasury or whomever, to simply pay the bills, saying that any attempt to prevent it is unconstitutional and would be prosecuted?

I think not paying our bills will harm the economy - does the right want to harm the economy?

if you do not pay your credit card, interest rates go up...

If you keep on taking out a credit card to pay off another credit card then payments and interest goes up. If we don’t balance the budget who will?

You don’t understand finances and diversity. Nor do you show any understanding of the financial prowess of the public and what ending SS would do to the country including YOU. And I doubt a lecture here and now would make any difference to anyone. DO some diligent study into it!
