Interesting and sad case, lots of potential issues to discuss here. I have previously said that ghost guns would make gun control kind of meaningless. If a 13-year-old can do it, seems like it would be hard to stop any DIY-oriented people. What, if anything, can this situation tell us about guns in society in the future?

The term "ghost guns" is misleading. The truth is that guns are not complicated, Any amateur with a drill press or 3D printer can make them. This 13-year old child, while not the brightest bulb in the box, outsmarted the entire anti-gun crowd. Gun laws provide killers with easy victims and give criminals another source of income.

This is what happens if guns became illegal. Not this idiot shooting people, even the thieves, but making your own.
