A whiff of fascism. One-legged homeless brotha with crutches taken down by 14 cops because some affluent racist said he was waving "sticks."

He was far too poor to be walking in that area. Gotta keep these po' folks together, so we can turn the dogs, er, I mean, cops loose on them.

The person who interceded on his behalf is brave and seems like a good person. She probably saved his life with her interference because I thought they were going to snap his neck or suffocate him the way they were handling him.

 

There's gotta be something comprehensive done about homeless people. With this country's economic policies and its debt, I reckon so many more people will become homeless. This system really is crumbling.

My Governor, Rich Scott, cut the funding to shelters that help homeless people with bad credit find jobs and move into public housing. They are now starved for funds. They can barely feed people now.

 

Your responses were ignored because the tape shown is not even close to the comments you have made Dark Skies or the article Horhey produced. Its ironic he produced a tape that contradicts the very article he provides.

At no time did 14 police officers subdue this individual. Anyone can see from the tape the majority of officers on the scene made no contact with him or even communicated with him. The officers directly involved were far from brutal. They followed standard procedure including protecting his head, subduing his leg when he was kicking without hurting him with a standard leg brace sit hold and no one but no one prevented him from breathing.

In fact what the film shows is they waited for a paramedic unit to get him suggesting he was probably mentally ill. The people with orange side badges were paramedics not police.

This man probably had a mental illness such as schizophrenia, schizophreniform or a dementia brought on from dehydration from a urine infection, diabetes, malnutrition, alcoholism-you have no clue, not a clue. You use this poor man as a political tool a tool of exploitation so you can (*)(*)(*)(*) at cops and the US in general. Save your pseuto socialist concern for the poor and down trodden shtick. You couldn't give a damn about this man. The police did.

If he was dehydrated and sick at least their actions get him a look see from an emergency physician and probably at least some water and food.

No offense, but you didn't pay close attention to the video. The only reason they started behaving was because a bystander wasn't going to put up with bad behavior. One cop clearly steps/stomps on one of his legs (5 seconds) at the very beginning of the video. The fact that you are being dismissive like this makes me dismiss your response to my post.

 

And if we continue on this neoliberal path, revolution is a given. Something is bad wrong with most of new growth in GDP goes to the top, and the top owns most of the wealth, taking it away from the middle with neoliberalistic economics. Which Obama is an enabler as well as every president since Reagan brought it back.

The only thing that has kept a revolution at bay are the social safety nets, as insuffiecient as they are. If the right wingers get into total control and gets rid of them, they will be hanging from oak trees, do not doubt that. FDR saved capitalism long ago, and it has to be saved again, so that it works as a model that allows most of us to prosper by our work, instead of only making the already rich, richer.

For if your economic model is not one like we used to have, that creates jobs for your own people, living wage jobs, of course social safety net spending will explode. People have to survive. The right wingers who embraced this neoliberalism seem immune to rationality, and divorced from reality in a really big way.

A nation has to make what it consumes in both goods and services. For every job in the private sector involves making what we consume in goods and services. You have to have both of these job creation engines within your own nation. If you lose one of them, for small consumer goods, you will inevitably have high jobless rates. A mathematical certainty, which the far left open borders liberals and the right wing neoliberals are not intelligent enough to realize. We need to be saved from these two groups. For both are sending a nation of working people down the drain. And that always leads to revolution.

So the cops are really gonna have their hands full,unless we vote someone just like sanders in, and we back him up and have a bloodless revolution.

So once again we need a progressive or if you like, a democratic socialist to save capitalism. And that has to be cosmic irony.

Now to make this pertinent to the OP, this wave of violence from the black community, the wave of police shootings of unarmed citizens, the police brutality is related to the dire economic conditions in this nation created by the GOP neoliberalism as well as their buddies the corporate owned democratic party. Just like bad economic conditions were involved in the Arab Spring. Economic conditions that negatively affect millions of people will also affect their behavior. Everything in human society in interrelated in the same way the ecosystem is.

The only people I see doing anything about removing poor representatives are Tea Party organizations. For Sanders to be effective, the Democrats are going to need something like them on their side. The power players are showing their contempt for dissenting views of the status quo, so I can imagine nothing getting done unless some seats get flipped to gain more Independent representatives. I mean if Bernie gets elected, will he be able to get work done with the career politicians we have in there now?

if he was truly waving his crutches at people, and they felt threatened, then that is a weapon and the police had no choice but to remove him

if he resisted, the police had no choice but to restrain him... what was the issue here exactly?

it's sad that there has been so many bad police caught on video lately, but it's good that people are now watching, recording and speaking up, though in this case I did not see an issue (with the cops actions)

I disagree. The man was resisting and they were just cuffing him The girl lamenting they were on his prosthetic leg was amusing. It is a metal stick. Anyway, there were like 3 or 4 cops at any given time in contact with him, the others were just doing crowd control so the headline is misleading that 14 cops took him down.

 

Yeah, at most four were on him that I remember.

 

The fact that he is homeless should ave no bearing on the way the police treat him

Now when a police officer is assaulted and needs help how many of those people witnessing the police actions will help the officer

How many times will things like this happen before people protest and possibly riot
