You tell the truth and present the facts.....The meaning of the press is to present the TRUTH to the people. If the facts show that homosexuality is a choice, than that is what you present.

What method will the government use to determine what constitutes lying in a news report?

If what they say canbe proven to be false, it is a lie...you see that is how a liew works.....

There would be an exception.....If the initial source they received is false, they would not be held responsible.

What is the method or procedure the govt will use to determine if a reporter lied?

What guarantees us that the government will remain impartial and not use it's newly acquired power to misrepresent facts and punish dissent?

There are already plenty of groups that check news sources and reprt their lies. The government could simply get a monthly report from these organizations and use them to determine if an offense has occured. Ity would mean that a civilian organizatin would handle it and not a government agency.

And there would be a civilian watchdogf group created to make sure the government does not alter the reports.

Civilian watchdog groups render your proposed changes unnecessary and you still haven't addressed the most pressing concern: False identification of reported facts as lies to protect the government's interests, rendering honest dissent all but impossible. What you seek to protect is precisely what will be endangered.

Not according to your 5th priority as President:

5; I would support the construction of a nationwide high speed rail system. The railways, stations, and depos would be owned and operated by the federal and state governments. The trains would be operated by private companies. This would serve two purposes..

All grocery stores are private, and there is a system in place to make sure that poor people are able to shop there. If your theory was remotely true, we would have to have government grocery stores everywhere with free groceries supplied with tax dollars.

I am pretty sure the only power that the UN has internationally comes from the fact that US is a member of the UN Security Council, right?

The US derives its power from the ability to park a couple of air craft carriers within striking distance of most any target.

As far as top 15, it would involve a lot of firing, defunding, vetoing, deregulating, scrapping, privatizing, localizing, and shutting down. I like Hoyt's answer fairly well.

I would have to agree with that...America's answer ro any problem is to attack anyone who refuses to go along with them......

And by the way...would you consider the airports in the US to be the government aiding the airlines? Cause the airports are paid for by the government. If not, why would you consider paying for nation wide rails to be aiding corporations, since it's the same thing as funding airports.

I would first have to have the power, so many of my 15's come down to what I would have to simply advocate.

    1. Abolish BoBoCare
    2. Abolish the Dept of Education
    3. Abolish the EPA and start anew with a regulatory agency with limits
    4. stop all new regulations
    5. Review all existing regulations for merit and effectiveness
    6. propose a balanced budget amendment
    7. propose an amendment for term limits
    8. propose an amendment to revoke the 17th Amendment
    9. Criminalize earmarks

    This is my start

A few more to add to my list of ten

    11. Abolish the ATF
    12. Abolish Homeland Security and the TSA
    13. Establish an upper limit for taxpayers beyond which their taxes are considered paid...a 'fair share'.
    14. Establish a link between GDP and total government taxation...say 20%.

You got my vote. I dissagree with 7 though, I would go further, and ensure that there are no such thing as illegal human beings, by uniting the world.

Possession of marijuana is also a state crime in some states. The President could not pardon anyone charged with the state crime of possessing marijuana. Try again.

(1). End most foreign military involvement. Cut defense spending/end Department of Homeland Security.

(2). Privatize schools with some regulations.

(3). Cut all foreign aid; close Guantanamo Bay; prohibit torture.

(4). Phase out coal and oil via Natural Gas as transitional to cleaner energy of the future. $1 Trillion Energy and Industrial Recovery Plan as suggested by Robert A. Hefner III.

    (5). Privatize airport security.

(6). Legalize softer drugs like marijuana with no regulation. Prohibit selling of hard drugs; but permit possession.

    (7). Mandatory government-run health insurance.

(8). Define marriage as between two individuals at or above the age of consent who are not closely related. No incest.

    (9). Legalize abortion everywhere.

(10). Legalize death penalty everywhere; however, there has to be a very selective standard. Only in cases of the most gruesome and disgusting crimes in which the person is guilty without a shadow of a reasonable doubt.

(11). Lower income tax (perhaps eliminate?) for middle class and poor; increase it for those who make $100,000 or more.

(12). Pretty much mostly everything on OP's list except the ones that contradict my ideas.

(13). Benefits to families that choose to adopt instead of have their own baby.

    (14). Prohibit organized prostitution.

(15). Prohibit companies to place ads on Youtube videos. Hate that crap.

These are things I would like to see happen, not necessarily things a President could actually do; and things I can only think of right now. I'd probably have more things on the list but my mind is going blank right now.

Fair enough. At least you're consistent. I just had to ask.

So what happens when two sets of facts emerge that contradict one another (i.e. "climate change")? Are both sets of facts acceptable for reporting? A lot of people today cannot even agree what the facts are on a given issue. Is it still lying or distortion if the source is reporting and standing by statements that it honestly believes to be true?

Also, what would you do with people like Jon Stewart who disseminate false information under the banner of comedy (just as he expresses liberal opinions under the banner of being a "moderate")? It's technically misprepresentation of facts using a loophole. Would you allow that loophole to be exploited or would you close it?

I would work off the Monroe Doctrine- make the American and South American Continents one global powerhouse. America would get 95% of what it would need from the Americas and export 80% of what it makes within the continent- the world will still need Levi jeans, US autos and Marlboro cigarettes.

This involves withdrawing in all regards from the rest of the world in favor of making and consuming it here on this continent. A lot of that would involve propping South America up which is a good thing.

I wouldn't go so far as to suggest an Amero currency, but keep it all based and backed by the US dollar.

I would make the Americas the world force with America leading the way.

    1. Export all corporations to the countries where they pay penny laborers to make shoes, and freeze all their stolen American assets and return them to their rightful owners....the workers of the US.

    2. Long jail sentences for employers who pay illegal workers ANYTHING, to stop encouraging them to enter illegally, and take their illegally gotten wealth , and return it to the people they stole it from.

    3. Jail Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, for treason and killing thousands of people on 9/11.

    4. Abolish Fox noise.

    5. CEO's must work the same hours and for the same pay they give their employees, then outsource their own jobs, and then to jail for human indecency.

    6. Cheney must switch to the RNC version of health care, have a heart attack, and have his insurance claim denied and his policy cancelled.

    7. Ann Coulter must admit to the world that she's a man.

    8. Cut the deficit. Begin with suspension of all perks and bennys to all republicans (including Boner's tanning lotion).

    9. Arrest and imprison CEO's, and corporate big whigs for tax evasion.

    10. Christie has a heart attack and falls out of his tax paid for helicopter and then gains 80 pounds.

    11. Jail George Sr. for giving birth to George Jr.

    12. Newt must begin cosmetic surgery to begin the transformation into a human being, and then be fired, and have to file bankruptcy, and his unemployment claim DENIED.

    13. Corporate masters must give away all their personal jets to previously downsized employees and supply them with fuel for life. Then, be forced to work for Walmart for the rest of his life. (and he must work through lunch but must also clock out).

    14. Kick out all the current Wall street profiteers, and make them find a job in Detroit.

    15. Create an executive order to forever bar all former corporate criminals
from ever taking part in any human activity whatsoever (outside of serving humanity in a non paid way to be specified by the victims of their past evils, then go straight to Hell upon death.
