    HAHAHA numbers 3 and 4.

I work nights all the time. This Thursday-Friday I'll be on from 10PM to 6AM again. Then I have formation at another base. I always seem to be pulling nights on daylight savings, a holiday, or my birthday.

Yeah, this article is hilarious lol.

Speaking of which, I really need to get to sleep. I'm only going to get 3 hours of sleep...

    Ugh!!!!

I wish I had better control of my sleep. I was too stimulated when I got off and am sitting at a coffee shop now drinking beer, not coffee. I've kept it to three, and I am just now getting tired.

    I feel your pain.

Sometimes I'm working 6AM-3PM days, sometimes 6AM-7PM. Throw in all the overnights- I'm 28 getting gray hair

Those 18 things are pretty much true. Lol. Lucky for me, I don't really seem to require much more than 6 hours of sleep.

It's tough getting used to, but once you get used to working 3rd shift, it's great.

It helps me to sleep to put my fan on because it blocks out other sounds. Some kind of background noise, you know?

I have the night off tonight. I usually have Mondays and Fridays off, but it depends.

Haha, that sounds a little crazy. My schedule is consistently late but pretty predictable. Go in and try to get out on time, which almost never happens because we have more work than we can do.

Oh yeah, sleeping with a fan is a must. This was something I hated when I lived in China. They have some myth about fans being bad for your health, so my roommate refused to let me have one.

I have today off, and I'm not going to do anything but lounge around. I need a few more weeks to adjust to the physical side of the work before I start getting active when I'm off.

My dad always loved midnight to 8 shifts--no upper management around during those hours.

The thing about taking 2 days to have 1 day never really thought about before. Never happened with him. One of my brothers works 12 hour 3 on 4 off four on three off schedules. I really have not figured out why, but he says when he has to take a day off, he gets paid more if he takes it as a loss day than if he takes it as a vacation/personal day. He can't even explain it other than it is how they allocate personal/vacation days within the context of that weird scheduling system unless you take the whole week or two off.

I worked swing shift for 16 years, 7 straight of all 3 shifts.

    1. People calling or stopping by knowing you are sleeping- You're only sleeping, you can go right back to bed. A few phone calls to these people at 2-3 AM soon stops that.

    2. Being seen on the deck drinking a beer at 8 AM after a 12 hour night shift makes you an alcoholic.

    3. Not being able to accept invitations because of working afternoon shift, weekends, or have to go in early on night shift, the invites soon stop because your unsociable.

4.Working nights and needing to run errands to places that don't open for 2 or 3 hours after you leave work.

This is becoming a major problem. Many places of business don't even open until 9, so I have to sit around for hours before I can even accomplish anything. I'm wasting a lot of my time off just waiting for (*)(*)(*)(*) to open up.
