19 year old put on sex offender registry for having sex with underage girl

So when a woman lies to you it is you who should go to jail. Got it.

 

the list has become useless because it's abused, and really anyone dangerous enough to be on a list should be locked up and the key thrown away

obviously this is not what the list was intended for, common sense should prevail, no teen having consensual sex with another teen should go on the list

 

I do not think anyone cares about him doing some time, few days maybe, that is not the real issue here, it's going on the list for having consensual sex and banning him from using a computer for years

the charge should be "teen having sex with a consenting minor teen", that way when people read it in future and see it was one high school student having sex with another, they know what the crime really was

personally I do not think 9th grade should be part of high school for this very reason, should be 7th,8th and 9th graders go to jr high

trying to put this in the same category as rape is wrong, both of these children will be traumatized by the states actions for life, more so the young boy, as he will be stigmatized for life

My Republican state until a few years ago was 14 years old, then dems took over for and changed it to 16 with a 5 year buffer to protect teens like this and 14 and 15 years olds from old rich powerful guys

I agree. A 19 year old kid who has consensual sex with a 15 year old should not be treated the same as a 35 year old who molests 10 year olds. This person should not be on a lifetime list for sexual predators thereby ruining his life. That is outrageous. When I was a 15 year old neighborhood pool boy I had a hot affair with a 25 year old woman who was married to a 32 year old fat prick LAPD officer. It was by far the best summer I had up to that point and I wouldn't trade it for anything. She dumped the creep after he found out and slapped her around. We have remained friends to this day. In my opinion, what happened was completely normal and there is no way this woman should have been arrested. Same with the kid in the op.

 

The girl was missing for the night and the mother was extremely worried and called the police. The police apparently got hold of all the girl's cell phone records. So the boy was arrested based on 1) the mother's initial report that her daughter was gone that night, and 2) cell phone data

 

He had sex with a minor child, and was stupid, I think jail time and being charged with a felony of Statutory Rape is in order unless he takes a plea deal which wasn't mentioned was likely on the table so he might have rolled the dice and lost. I suggest young men get to know a girl well before bedding her then this wouldn't likely happen or stop dealing with girls and focus on yourself for awhile. The sentence seemed to me appropriate for a rapist.

Utah's humans may be different, but here is an article which says there is a double standard. It's four years old, so, maybe evolution has changed everyone in that time. I don't know. I'm sure I can find more, but isn't once enough?

Women teachers are held to the same standards as the male teachers: don't touch the kids, and if you do, you go to the big house just as much as the guys do for as long.

Since you have made the statement that all are held to the same standards, prove it. Look for those cases in which they were not. The issue with this is, I can't trust you to do this with any honor or integrity. All you have to do is wait a few minutes and come back with nothing, while reporting there was nothing to be found.

Seems like the judge is not basing this on age but by their own moral conduct. The judge should be barred because there is no law against meeting someone on line for the sole purpose of "boinking". Take it to a higher court and get that judge removed.

The fact that they met and the girl was gone from her parent's house for most of the night is presumed to mean that they had sex.

Aside from that, I don't think there was actually any direct evidence that the two engaged in sexual intercourse.

Tough ****. For all we know they both said that after the fact to try and keep him out of trouble. Unless this guy is literally a virgin altar boy who had his first kiss with that 14 year old then he can't use that "I didn't know defense". The first thing that was drilled into your head by all of your friends and every adult around you is that when you turn 18 you better make sure that the girls you sleep with are 18. Technically you can sleep with 16 year olds in my state of WI but there are caveats to that and anyone is just better off playing it safe and just asking for ID. The only way I would buy his story is if they meet at a bar where you assume that everyone there is an adult.

I don't have to do anything more until you offer objective facts, solid analysis by experts, etc. You have given me no proof of any sort that needs to be answered. Give me stats, facts, comparative analysis.

Until then, your complaint that women teachers do not answer as do men for abusing sexually their students just does not meet proof.

And I do have another opinion: it seems that you think women teachers are getting over more than men. In Utah, they are not.

 

Such events as this have been going on for a number of years. It shows how ridiculous our law makers are, probably inspired by our pernicious Judeo-Christian heritage, who knows?

Having discussed this over drinks with some lawyer friends a few months ago, they said that in Florida they changed the law so that this doesn't happen anymore. I don't know and have not followed up on that.
