Every soldier, Marine, and airman I know carries.

I'll disparage no veteran's service, but I won't tolerate attacks on my rights and freedoms either.

Not carrying a firearm has zero to do with thinking you have nothing to worry about.

Most Marine, Special Forces, doggy, friends of mine who were in serious combat do not carry. In fact, a significant number of them don't even own a firearm, or if they do it's for skeet shooting, or bird hunting.

I couldn’t disagree more that ‘everywhere’ is risky. Sorry I mean no offense but I’m so glad I don’t think like that. I couldn’t imagine walk through my day thinking everyone is a possible threat to my life. And between friends and family I know a sh!t ton of cops and none of them carry outside of work.

With all due respect to the cops you know... they are making a horribly foolish decision. Any law enforcement officer makes enemies; it's part of the job. You send violent societal predators to prison for a living. They get out of prison, and run into you on the street, they will want a comeuppance. Friends of those you send to prison will do the same. I have stood in court and had my family threatened by subhuman creatures who sprayed spit in my direction as they were dragged away.

More importantly, anyone who takes the job seriously knows they are on duty 24/7. You don't EVER turn it off. Wherever you are, on duty or off, YOU are the First Responder. Every cop I ever knew who was halfway worth his salt was NEVER without the means to defend themselves and those around them. One of my instructors didn't take his own firearms training seriously until a friend of his was murdered off duty, when a robbery started while he and his wife were having dinner at their favorite restaurant. One of the robbers was collecting wallets and discovered his badge and shot him in the face. Only then did my instructor get serious, and he was NEVER without a firearm on his person after that, and he hammered that lesson into his students' heads until he retired, but he kept carrying. My grandfather carried a gun every day of his life, even after he retired from law enforcement. For any cop to be serious about his job and then not carry off duty... is for that cop to be making a truly fatal mistake.

I guess the 3 dozen or so cops I know aren’t all that scared.

It's not about being "scared"... and anyone who claims such is rationalizing foolishness with false bravado.

Most cops around here are expected to carry when off duty. If I had to estimate, out of the 300 or so people in church every Sunday, there are at least 30-40 guns in the service. Nobody exposes their gun and nobody talks about them, but I suspect at least 7 in my Sunday school class of 30 people, counting myself and my wife. We learned from Wedgewood and Sutherland Springs to not take safety for granted at church. I guess you could say we practice don't ask, don't tell.

About 80 % of my veteran friends (local) carry.

Most of our friends carry. When we go out to dinner, we may have as many as 5-6 guns in our party. There are 10 houses on my street. I know people who carry in 4 houses and only 1 house am I sure that they don't. In an adult atmosphere, guns are not an issue. Prosecute behavior. That's where the problems occur.

If you need a gun to be able to go out in public then cool. Whatever gets you out of the house.

Close friend of mine, never carry's a gun:

I served with the older individual in the middle. Has trained Rangers, Special Forces, law enforcement, foreign military, etc., and never carry's a firearm.

That you know of. Most of my friends and family have no clue that I carry daily; it’s not generally information I share. I doubt any of my neighbors know I own guns, I don’t carry open, I don’t display them in my home, I don’t generally spend time discussing guns with any of them and I don’t tend to show my guns off any more than I show off my wallet or car keys. The few people the know I do firearms training might occasionally ask advice, but even then... out of sight, out of mind for most of them. The only people I generally discuss guns with are those online, those I work with and the couple I hunt with.

Just because you don’t share it doesn’t mean everyone else is the same as you.

    Doesn't mean a thing.

I have no desire to work to take CC licenses away from anyone. I have one. What I do have a desire to do is put another message out there. You don't have to carry to be serious about defending yourself and those you care about. There are far more important ways to protect those you love than carrying a firearm.

Then demonstrate what such ways amount to. Show what other methods are regarded as being of comparable effectiveness to legally carrying a firearm.

I don’t know anyone that suggests carrying a firearm as the only means of self defense. I have been involved with martial arts most of my life and can defend myself with various means appropriate to the level of threat needed. To me, the various means for self defense is based in knowledge of many life skills, firearms being but one. I am comfortable of my skill to survive and thrive in most any environment while also never assuming I can’t learn from those more experienced or knowledgeable in some areas and I recognize I can become more proficient in any area. One thing I don’t do is abdicate my personal safety or survival to anyone; I accept full responsibility for myself and am ready to help others in need when appropriate. I don’t tell others what they should do in life, but am always ready to share my experience and knowledge to those seeking to increase knowledge, self confidence, self sufficiency, individual responsibility and accountability for themselves.
Don’t want to be armed? Your choice. I make mine. Ain’t liberty good and worth protecting?

I am not a prepper, but have no issue with anyone who is. However, I have lived in urban areas and in remote wilderness areas. Both have advantages and trade offs .... that’s life.

Deadly force doesn't necessarily mean that someone is killed. If you shoot at his legs there is a big chance that he survives, but can't fight back. So you can safely call the cops.

But if you aim at his head, it's pretty sure that you want send him directly to hell. And this is murder. You are neither the judge nor there is any legal system where robbers will be punished with death.
