Wanna explain why Alabama, a red state, almost came in dead last?

Four of the top five on the list are blue states with “liberal policies on full display”. Your blanket statement doesn’t hold much water.

FYI, we have Republican mayors and Govenors, no difference.

Four of the top five have tradionally been Republican, or at least "purple". Only recently have those states turned left. And they've benefitted from centuries of good fortune; they weren't decimated by the Civil War and they (like Texas) don't have a 1,000 mile border on the third world.

Curious as to what you think “recently” is.
The last time VT, NJ and CT voted for a Republican President was 1988. According to my math that’s 31 years ago.

Being 48th or 49th, only one or two states can be worse.

Correct. They leaned right until a generation ago. Then all three went left.

But those states have been around 300+ years. One generation of leftist change isn't enough to destroy a states' education system, although Connecticut is a financial disaster with high taxes and businesses fleeing.

And now their school systems are in the top 5.
MA has always been “leftist” yet they haven’t “destroyed their education system”.
Btw, where is TX on the list???

Want to explain why red states like Nebraska, North Dakota, Wyoming, Kentucky, Kansas, South Dakota, Indiana, Utah, Montana, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Idaho, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia have better school systems than the extreme left-wing state of Mexi-fornia?????

Why do you believe CA should have a better school system than those states?

Most states exercise a lot of control. Local districts are required to follow state guidelines and requirements. The states establish curriculae, breaking things down into grade level standards as requirements for the local level. ( http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/curriculum/ )

The bureaucratic control of education makes for good sports in the political arena, but most things, from the collection of data to the validity of that data is simplistic and not accurate.

One big issue I've had to deal with has been the increase in kids who truly believe they can't fail. Holding them back or accurately reflecting their skills through grading makes administrators look bad, so they pass along kids who've learned there is no consequence for doing nothing. There are a lot of problems in education, but these ranking systems really don't tell us much, and in the end are destructive.

Massachusetts is the only historical left state at the top.

Texas' national rankings are always dragged down due to our large third world population and our failure to protect our border.

You have one excuse after another. Even without the "third world population" TX wouldn't come close to MA regarding education.

Because you left-wingers constantly tell us that liberalism is superior.

You mean like how right-wingers constantly tell left-wingers that conservatism is superior??? Newsflash...both sides think their way is superior. This really shouldn’t be news to you.
Btw, I make a really bad liberal considering I’ve never voted for a Dem, nor will I ever, and I’m a gun owner who also thinks we should have the death penalty in every state. But hey, I disagree with you on something so I therefore MUST be a Left-winger. Such lazy thinking on your part.
