Some of the worst situations the police face are domestic disputes. If a social workers shows up at the door instead of a policeman, it’s doubtful that an enraged gunman is going to more likely to put down their weapon.

NYC has added cops and have most cops per capita in the nation, and its not even close. As a results crime is pretty low in NYC.
