This is what happens when the lunatics take over the asylum. Simultaneously, it is a demonstration of the deep hypocrisy that Republicans represent. An effective tool that has, demonstrably, prevented votes from being cast in different states by the same party(or on behalf of that same voter) is being discarded by Right-wing states because of a campaign of misinformation by the crazies in their political party. Apparently, Republicans are ok with voter fraud in favor of placating their radical fringe.

(Disclaimer: opinions and discussion welcome. Nutball posts will be ignored)

"The Electronic Registration Information Center, or ERIC, is a multi-state partnership that experts across the political spectrum say is the only reliable, secure way for states to share voter registration data with each other.

But on Monday, three Republican-led states announced they are pulling out of ERIC — leaving questions about the future of a system that up until recently was a bipartisan success story, as well as questions about how these three states will maintain accurate voter lists without such a resource.

"[ERIC] is a godsend," Paul Pate, the GOP secretary of state of Iowa, told NPR in an interview last month.

But state officials in Florida, Missouri and West Virginia have joined a growing number of Republicans who don't see it that way."

I just read this. So much for their concerns about voter integrity. :)

Their hypocrisy once again on full display.

The first question that must be answered is: who manages the data set? Can they be trusted, or not, and who oversees or otherwise creates the attestation of the data hosted by either accurate or legitimate?

I would point out that the CDT (Center for democracy and technology) seems to have quite the political agenda, to include continued support for shielding technology providers like Google from liability as they actively curate and act as publishers.... but who cares.

Really??? That's hilarious. So, in your mind pet information brokers who actively censor the public square they inhabit continue to deserve the protection of government from litigation because it might be inconvenient to their continued ability to curate the narrative? You guys and your willingness to adopt tyranny...

What was spelled out ? You mentioned CDT. How is that related to ERIC ? They are two different organizations. Make a case for a connection or be ignored.

No. Clearly I object to voter fraud because I think depriving states of a tool that demonstrably combats duplicate voting is a bad thing.

Why are you even asking that question ?

    Re-quote of my original post.

    (the WHEN is now)

That data-sharing allows participating states to expand ballot access by giving officials information that helps them reach out to eligible voters who have moved into the jurisdiction but have not yet registered to vote. But it also increases election security by notifying those same officials when a registered voter moves away or dies, allowing states to maintain more accurate voter rolls.

So is it a problem for Reps that new residents of a state are enrolled? Is it the higher level of security that will squelch claims of fraud? In reading the piece I didn't see a good or legitimate reason to back out of this process. I wonder how the constituents feel about this...

    Or maybe..........
they are doing it so that they can leave people who are moving to their state from a "liberal" state off the voting rolls, therefore achieving their goal of denying "new comers" the right to vote. See MTG statements.

Thats kind of what I meant with my first sentence. Not wanting new lib voters enrolled so easily.

Nobody who pays even the slightest attention really believes Republicans care about voter fraud. They just refuse to accept responsibility for losing elections. This is another reminder of that.
