$400,000 missile to shoot down $12 balloon

The U.S. military used a sidewinder missile that costs $400,000 to shoot down what turns out to probably have been a hobbyist radio balloon that cost $12.

President Biden was probably the one to give the order to shoot it down, amidst paranoia that China might be sending "spy balloons" over the U.S. (Still no evidence any of these balloons were launched by a government or intended for spying)

Another example of an outrageous waste of money.

The original balloon that began all this recent bout of paranoia may likely have been launched by some hobbyists in China and can be bought in China for the equivalent of $200 U.S. dollars.

Did they really need to use an expensive missile to shoot down these balloons?

Government money at work.
