Prior to Biden taking office, anyone who wanted a border wall was called an intolerant racist who hates brown people. I wonder if the people of NYC know that Biden sued to have border barriers removed and welded gates open????

Right now, today, at this very moment, the RNC should be putting out ads along with billboards stating the following message:

The Biden administration has opened our southern boarder which allowed millions of unvetted aliens to enter our country in just two and a half years, many which were sent or asked to go to sanctuary cities. You still have another year and a half of having aliens sent to your sanctuary cities which could amount to millions more.

If you vote for Biden or another democrat in 2024, then on top of the aliens who will be arriving to your cities in the next one and half years, you'll get four more additional years of it. Is that what you want?

Your vote will determine how long aliens will get sent to your cities.

This won’t help trump, he didn’t build the wall last time, and he won’t do it this time.
Plus, a wall won’t stop people making asylum claims.

He tried to. Congress obstructed funding.

Some very small sections of fence got built, in certain critical areas. And in other areas the fence got upgraded.

Agreed, a wall would be a waste of money. I could some extensions around populated areas, but anything else is a waste.

No it's not a waste. Any of it. The Wall needs to be completed in order to stop the browning of America. Add reinstating President Eisenhower's government plan "Operation Wetback" on a massive scale and we'll see results of deportations and tons of self deportations. We desperately need Trump back in the oval office. Finishing the wall is tantamount in making America great again.

Cheap labor provided by illegal aliens is a part of the economy now. Too late. Just as slavery became a large part of the economy before 1860. So just hang on for the ride.

It's not a surprise that many people fall for populist, simplistic "solutions" for complex problems.

BTW: When is Mexico going to write the check, so we can start building?

Trump said Mexico would pay for the wall. He never said they would simply write a check. To say so is simply baiting an argument. The revenue would come from entry fees, import duty, assorted taxes, and other required payments as well as saving the massive amount of money illegals send home for their families.

Most of the 2k border is desert, it is a waste, Trump's wall was a failure, and if you had a clue about the climate and terrain out there, this discussion would already be moot.

If you were trying to sneak illegally across the border, would you cross at San Diego? El Paso? Or would you pick a desolate place in the boonies where no one would see you? I have lived and worked on the border many times in my life, from San Diego to Yuma, to Fort Bliss, Its hot sometimes, but not very bad. Want bad? Try Iraq... it was in the 120's for a while when I was there. All you could do was find a piece of shade and collapse. And with no trees ... that was a challenge.

He also said he would pay back the loans he took for his failed businesses, but I guess he didn't mean he'd actually write them a check, - because he never paid back. Its how con artists operate. They say stuff, and the lies are exposed, they say "oh you silly you, did you think I meant it literally". They'll accuse you of being stupid for believing them. Tucker Carson used the same line by saying he didn't expect people to actually believe him (but they did). Trump lawyer used the same line by saying reasonable people were not expected to believe her claims about stolen elections (but they did believe her, and still do).

We've had this discussion before, I've been at those places, El Paso, half the vehicles have Mexican plates, Ft Huachaca, Sierra Vista, AZ, nothing around it for miles, all desert and mountains.

Also Ft Bliss, El Paso, was once the Army's air defense is school, Ft Huachaca, a signal school and the JIEO office, or is used to be. That's Joint Interoperability Engineering Office. The border would be a perfect test ground, coupled with a rapid response border control office, would be ideal.

Care to explain why a wall would be better, that nerds manning, maintenance, and didn't work 5 yrs ago.

Do they believe those things, or are they just saying those things to either A: Sound good to the greater society, or B: It's because it's all they know? Or C: In spite of complaining about everything terrible happening in NY, and other areas, they still believe in contrary to the known evidence in front of them.

It being a minority, doesn't make the majority right. It means the majority, simply exists in their own little bubble. "Give me your tired, your poor" is not and was never a mantra to live by(as seen by the first 150 years of immigration policy). The small nation needed immigration to grow and develop. At some 330 million Americans(and counting) she is no longer small, but quite large and has more than enough bodies to complete the daily tasks of running the country's infrastructure and society.

Then the whole 'entry level jobs in order to be successful'. They do know there's a degree of competency, expected of entry level jobs right? Businesses cannot just take these poorly educated/uneducated non-english speaking people into jobs. So the Indian call centers, will be the American public service sector of the future?

Immigration also doesn't bring a new or old vitality to the country, that's the quality of the people themselves.

And as far as making illegals citizens, that would get them into the system but since they're starting on the bottom that means they'd crowd out Americans on the bottom rungs. Hurray!

We already know this future, it's the Chinese(who are undergoing an economic collapse at the time of this writing.) 1.3 billion mouths to feed is a difficult thing to do.

I dont see why anyone would answer a poll question contrary to what they think. Is that something you would do?

    Bloomberg has suggested a solution.

How Biden and Congress Should Fix the Immigration Crisis in Our Cities

Our long-broken immigration system has now become a full-blown crisis with the collapse of the asylum process. The Biden administration has failed to address the steep price many cities are paying for a system they didn’t create and borders the cities don’t control. The White House ought to recognize the political damage the crisis will do to Democrats up and down the ticket in 2024 if it doesn’t take swift and decisive action.

The number of people seeking asylum at the southern border increased under President Donald Trump and has grown further under President Biden. The partial border wall has done nothing to slow the flow. Both parties created the problem, and both parties must work together to fix it.

For starters, current federal law prevents asylum seekers who have already been admitted into the United States from immediately working. The process of receiving a work authorization can take a year or longer. In the meantime, how are asylum seekers expected to pay rent and feed themselves and their families? This amounts to state-enforced poverty and vagrancy — against people who have shown extraordinary fortitude and grit in journeying here, often at great risk, for the opportunity to work and build a better life.
