I view this as a serious failure of our education system and parents' lack of concern for what their children are learning. And, if the schools aren't doing it, why aren't they? Read the rest of these disgusting results @ http://endoftheamericandream.com/ar...how-far-america-has-fallen-in-this-generation And I can already see the nay-sayers dissing this for a variety of reasons must to defend their liberal/progressive agendas.
I guess you could say that, if the person that put that mess of a blog together was educated in the US, they were indeed failed by your education system. They've just plucked out a random selection of statistics and surveys from the internet that they've clearly not checked at all (hint, #6 is about Australians, not Americans ). Not all of them related to a period of "this generation", not all of them are demonstrated to be worse than any specified period previously and not all of them are demonstrated as fundamentally bad at all. Also a couple are reworded duplicates (I suspect they were running short around #40). That isn't to say there aren't some major problems behind some of these figures but to suggest that the whole that has been thrown together here represents some singular issue is ridiculous. If anything it belittles the real issues to pretend they're all just about some general fall of America.
Please show me which one this was? The only thing close was #36 Every single year, there are 20 million new STD cases in America. that linked to http://cnsnews.com/news/article/bar...-sets-us-record-most-cases-reportable-disease In fact, instead of trying to find dumb reasons to argue against the findings, you might actually click on the links to find where the numbers came from.
Well, at first glance, I can tell that this report is incorrect. The suicide rate in this country is about 40,000 per year, which works out to 110 a day. Still high, but not crazy high like 22 million a day.
I suspect he mis-transcribed "#29 According to one absolutely shocking study, 22 military veterans kill themselves in the United States every single day." (presumably another example of the failure of the US education system ). Of course the actual link refers to a study showing that the numerical rate of veteran suicide is fairly stable and its proportion of all suicides is actually down a little. The general conclusion was that efforts to support veterans was working though more needs doing. None of that really fits the grand conclusion of course.
You are absolutely correct about America falling. But it was long before this generation. The fall started after the civil war. The loss of state's rights. Then in 1916 the income tax was implemented, at this time it was just for the wealthy, but after the bankruptcy in 1933 the income tax was thrown on the backs of the middle class enslaving free men. "Wage slave's". True ownership of anything was also lost at this point as well through the property tax. The American government was deemed De facto and the treasury department became the De jure. The American government was allowed to continue to operate but the treasury department is the true rulers of America. They continued to teach us that we were free and that we were special. Now we are seeing the end results of these lies in our generation. Unwillingly you are partly to blame for this problem. As you are stuck in a party line. Liberals and conservative's are just two sides of the same coin. They pretend to hate each other so their following will do the same, but when the cameras are turned off these dems and republicans are eating dinner together and going golfing. Some even run businesses together. The truth is out there for anyone to find I suggest you read the bankruptcy of the United States 1933 and again in 1950 before the elites lock up the internet for good and propaganda is the only voice that will be heard. Your fellow American, Jason
22 million suicides a day?????????????????????? Actually it is 39,000 a year. At 22 million, that would mean in two weeks there would be no country. Bodies in the streets.
color="#ff0000"]in the quote box in your op.....did you not read it and just vomit this nonsense onto the board. /thread[/color]
4 of the shocking statistics amount to "people watch porn" and 6 are"some people who have sex get STD's"? I am confused. Would america be better if we stopped watching free porn on the internet or stopped having sex?
I read these reasons a couple of times now, and only few seem to argue the point you're trying to make. I see only a random list which basically says that people are less puritan than years ago. And on and on. It seems to only argue a very right wing message by saying that if people would be more puritan, life would be fine in the US. I don't see how this an argument for the failure of the US education system or a sign of stupidity. Are puritan people smarter for some reason?
milhapia I think the message was showing a lack of "morality". I know that's a very vague term but think it reflects a lack of self-control and responsibility. If we go about doing what "makes us feel good" does that show a lack of inner strength?
More people in the USA are on antibiotics than iranians. If you can understand why then it becomes clear why us antidepressant usage rates aren't an issue. We get our people treatment.
22 million Americans kill themselves everyday? There would be no Americans left within a month. In 2010, there were less than 40k suicides the entire year. These statistics are laughable.
