6 kids wounded as 92 are shot, 16 fatally, across Chicago in city’s most violent weekend of 2021

In the deadliest and most violent weekend this year in Chicago, 92 people have been shot over the long Fourth of July weekend, 16 of them killed.

The 76 wounded include six children and teenagers and two Chicago police supervisors.

Both the number of fatal shootings and the number of shootings overall are highs for 2021, according to a Chicago Sun-Times database of shootings.

In one incident, two people were killed and four were wounded, including a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, in a shooting early Monday in Washington Park on the South Side.

That happened around the same time that a 6-year-old girl and a woman were shot in West Pullman and about four hours after an 11-year-old boy and a man were shot in Brainerd on the South Side

How many of the guns used in these shootings do you suspect were owned and registered legally?

Assuming we had stricter gun laws, and enhanced background checks for registering, how many less people would have been shot? Zero, is my opinion.

How long are we going to pretend we can legislate this away? That more rules, stricter requirements, and more money is going to fix this issue?

When Trump was president, he offered to send federal help to Chicago in which the mayor responded "**** you" on national TV. Now, that same mayor is begging for help from the fed. Partisan politics, ineffective leadership and agendas, and non logical remediation are doing nothing to fix these urban issues, but democrats always seem to retain those urban democratic votes.

 

New York isnt doing much better.

And again, groups like BLM will be silent on this, meanwhile lefties having a meltdown over a woman falsely accusing a black teen of stealing her phone and being charged with a hate crime. That's what makes more news today rather than OP.

What difference does it make if the guns were "were owned and registered legally?" Stephen Paddock, Adam Lanza, Dylann Roof, and many of the the other mass shooters' weapons "were owned and registered legally"

Guns in Chicago were probably obtained via an array of means and transported into Chicago, the point is access, too many guns out there and too easy access to too many guns. One can even obtain a gun via the Google (https://www.armslist.com/), just check "accept" to "terms of use" and it is all on the honor system, a regular Craigslist for guns, and it is only one of many

You just might be right. But where I live there are zero bad neighborhoods that need to be avoided. You can go anywhere day or night and not worry about being a crime victim. Most of the crime here occurs among people who know each other, not gangs.
