https://www.politico.com/news/magaz...ngly-fast-path-to-nuclear-armageddon-00154591 The scenario in the book is the "Mad King" scenario where a mentally unstable North Korean leader begins Armageddon by launching nuclear missiles at the US. The Iranian leader is also mentioned in the Q&A with the author as another "Mad King", since a strong enough religious belief in the afterlife also removes the deterrence factor of Mutual Assured Destruction - the ayatollah would gladly go to paradise and assume that the righteous among his population would join him there. However, consider that if a leader is of advanced age or has a terminal disease, MAD also loses much of its deterrence value. This is a good reason to elect young, healthy leaders with a long life expectancy and lots of close family ties. The Pope is old, sick, presumably believes in Paradise, and has no descendants. Luckily the Vatican has no nukes.
What we need to do is elect people, regardless of the age, with a strong moral sense, good family values who has shown concern for those they leave behind, and some might say a religious belief that they could go to hell if they start a Global Thermonuclear War. Trump scores a negative in ALL those categories.
