So it has come to me being in a sales business that consumers seem the need (and I really can't blame them) to get the best deal out there reguardless of profit to the owner or not. Over the years there has been many an argument stating that profit is a bad word. In talking with friends I have found an interestering trend. So here is my question. Is paying profit on something that is negotiable something you are aware of, or is profit for the owner of what ever product or service irrelevant? Is this idea a liberal or conservative idea to pay profit? Is there such a thing as making too much profit on a service or product? Just wondering what you all might think.

Profit comes from acting on information that others don't have. If you are struggling to earn a profit, then you are in a business where many others have the same information as you and are acting on it. It may also be that your industry is dying, as so many do.

There is no such thing as "too much" profit if the profit is not derived through government coercion or cronyism (such as the huge profits earned by the war merchant.) In our corporate state, regulation creates selective barriers that also aid large corporations in gaining profit by preventing competition.

If companies fail to make a profit they have failed to fulfill the purpose for which they were created and like a burned out light bulb fails to fulfill the purpose for which it was created it must be discarded.

How much profit should be determined by supply and demand
.. however savvy business men have found ways to exploit weak politicians and purchased influence to decisions laws and regulations that cheat taxpayers and consumers. Companies that provide essential goods and services like energy health and insurance have become the largest campaign contributers and most successful at cheating consumers.

If not for the antitrust laws enacted 100 years ago consumers/citizens would have lost all economic power and freedom and this system of government would have failed long ago.
