What happened to carefully thought out unbiased deliberation about interpretation of the US Constitution?

Justice Sonia Sotomayor Attacks John Roberts as Racist!

Well, not exactly, but she might as well have. :icon_jawdrop:

At TPM, "Sotomayor Attacks John Roberts' Views On Race As 'Out of Touch With Reality'." http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/sonia-sotomayor-john-roberts-race-affirmative-action

Now, I'm not a historian of the court but, in my 70 plus years, I've never heard of one member of the court taking on another in this way. Has it become irreparably politicized? Cam we afford to have another Sotomayer appointed to the highest bench of our land?

It happens all the time, we just rarely get to see the dissenting opinion publicized. She did not attack Roberts the man, she attacked Roberts majority opinion on the case. A very big difference really

Hmmm . . . now that is entirely unexpected. I mean who ever heard of an enraged liberal being too immature to adhere to traditions that have been in effect for well over a century? I mean they are stickler for rules of deportment and tradition and . . . oh wait a minute. No, my bad . . . I was thinking about conservatives.

So what we have here is a petulant liberal too low-class despite the advantages of a top-flight education and exposure to elite customs and traditions to abide by the rules of custom when one of her pet projects gets a legal knifing. But as to the polarization of the court, why should they enjoy a different existence than the rest of the nation?

But putting all of the above aside for the moment, the answer is "Dunno yet. Data insufficient. Gotta wait and see if she pulls any other juvenile and petulant little stunts in the future." It's not as if she can be fired from her position. She has it for life if that's what she wants.
