A novel approach to taxation

    How about this. One flat tax that taxes a % of your total annual income and that pays all your state, federal and local taxes at once. Like our Income Tax system, only it applies evenly to everyone.

    Would a 40% tax be sufficient to run the country? Would you be willing to have 40% of your pay deducted every month?

    What kind of governance would you expect for 40 or another % of your income?

    40% would be rather high.

    We could probably manage 25% after reducing spending significantly.
