Hahahaha... I had forgotten that they did that as well.

I can see why you are annoyed.

My neighbors were young Baptist doctors.. .. The wife and I were standing in the yard waiting on him and I said, Where are y'all going"... She answered .. just our regular prayer meeting to pray for the conversion of the Jews.

    My jaw dropped..........

If you are so interested why not check it out yourself.

    I don't know and I don't care.

Only the living can be baptized and you need to pour water on their head to do it. Mormon baptisms of the dead are null and void and without effect.

Mormons do it because they think spirits, and those who have never been given a chance to hear to word, will be given another chance after passing through the veil. The Baptism is proxy, its an offer - the spirit still has to accept.

Its the answer to the question, what happens to people who have never heard of Christianity? Do they just burn in hell? To Mormons, the answer is an emphatic no.

To the rest of us? An interesting question.

It isn't right to do it. Jews should get upset.

They should leave Jewish people alone and leave their spirits alone, too.:mobile:

This is one reason I left the Mormon Church in my teenage years.

My jaw would have dropped, too.

When I was a kid, the day that President Kennedy was assassinated, she (our neighbor, two doors down, a MRS REED), said "I don't care if he was assassinated; I'm a REPUBLICAN." That was quite a few years ago, but just the same, absolutely jaw-dropping.

I thought my mother would spit in her face, if she could have gotten away with it.

no worse than a church claiming you’re going to go to hell less biding even to the believers as no dead people are forced to accept

Supporting bans on gay marriage is a much belter example of the church trying to impose its religion on every one and a better reason not to like it

This may be so, but I don't think Jews, alive or dead or part of the spirit world would really like to be baptized.

If they didn't get baptized in life, I am very sure that they don't want to be baptized in death. Of course I won't know for sure, until I meet my own demise and see what the spirit world has to offer.

If I can, I will send a message and let u know for sure.

I am as sure as I can be sure, otherwise.

Are they still marrying the dead too? Those crazy cultists. I can't believe christian religions stick up for them and their insane sacrilege.

Hmmm ... do you understand what Mormon's actually believe? Or do you enjoy taking pot shots in ignorance.

I work with Mormons, everyday, and have to ensure that their spiritual needs, as I do with Muslim, Buddhist, Islamic, Pagan, etc. Soldiers have their needs met.

#1 - Mormons no longer Baptize anyone without the families consent.

#2 - Mormons believe that families are eternal. Hence, if someone has a family that is Mormon, the FAMILY will baptize them - and offer them a chance to accept or reject God. (Ostensibly being on the other side of the veil gives one different perspective on things.)

#3 - The baptism of the dead is merely an opportunity, the spirit still has to choose.

#4 - It answers the question about what happens to all the people who have not heard about Christ in history, or even today, or pick the wrong denomination. They are not going to hell in the view of Mormons.

Think what you like about Mormons, but that last one there strikes me as something every religion could us a little dash of - as in, our religion is FOR EVERYONE rather than just those who think like us. Probably why I get aong well with them, well, that and because generally speaking they work their butts off. Good thing for Soldiers.

So rest assured, If someone is baptising a 'Jew' is because someone in the family asked them to do it. Ask a Mormon. I did.

Not surprisingly, as Hitchens makes the same claim, its been blown out of proportion and is akin to calling all Muslims terrorists.

How many Jewish families ask Mormons to baptise their deceased relatives?

    I haven't seen this published...but I haven't read everything.

There are too many books out there and I cannot read them all.

    Peace out.

You would both have to make it to the best part of their afterlife and agree to it i think

Its either for the dead to decide if the exist and the Mormons are right
Or it peoples freedom of religion to interact with the sprits they believe in
