Think about that, you can buy basic household appliances, maintain them and have to replace them in a longer time than the Confederacy existed.

 

I was about to propose than anyone who uses a Confederate symbol to represent southern pride use their high school letterman jacket or jersey to commemorate their entire life . . . but given my graduating class, there is probably already a lot of overlap there.

The US didn't leave England for the express purpose of preserving slavery. The Confederate states did so when it came to the US. The US didn't found itself with slavery and white supremacy as its cornerstone. The Confederacy did. The US didn't design a flag for the express purpose of celebrating slavery and white supremacy. If the US was founded for the express purpose of genocide, if their reason for leaving England was because they wanted genocide, if it had a flag specifically designed to celebrate genocide, and if the founders called genocide the cornerstone of their country and celebrated being the first country being founded in the name of genocide, then the two would be equivalent. Is genocide okay because according to you that wasn't their intent?

Do you think it gave the Indians much solace? Do you think going around the world kicking out other countries leaders and installing whatever proxy we select is okay?
