Why this recent sudden blossoming of old Zionist myths which have been trashed umpteen times on this forum? Interesting, not so? It deserves analysis as a social response to a sudden change. Methinks the rampant growth in realisation of the historical Zionist crimes in the Middle East is starting to become a grave concern to the Apologists. Let us take a look at these resurgences - one by one - so as not to over-complicate this OP: --- (to be continued) ---
Resurgent Myth 1: The Palestinians are immigrants and not indigenous to Palestine This is one of the top-5 Zionist myths. It pops up frequently. There was an extended debate in 2010 in which this Myth was trashed, but it recently reappeared here where the two resurgent posts are quoted: " http://www.politicalforum.com/middle-east/288011-jordan-palestine-2.html#post1062271112 " (click for original): In essence the Myth is that the growth rate of the Palestinians in the early 20th Century could not possibly have been caused by natural growth and that therefore immigration from surrounding countries must have been involved. In the subsequent responses it was proved that the population statistics used to show this had been fiddled. Furthermore there was an attempt to show that the British Mandate administration actually reported such permanent illegal immigrations on a large scale. When the source was examined, the Commission reports revealed exactly the opposite, namely that 1) the immigrations were seasonal; 2) they were related to crop and harvest conditions, 3) that they were of a TEMPORARY nature, and 4) that what permanent immigration there was was minor. The ultimate stab in the heart of the Zionist position is a statement by a senior Commission member that the growth rate in Palestinian population was more than adequately explained by "the fecundity" of the Palestinian women [and the successful combating of malaria in the region]. These quotes had therefore been grossly cherry-picked by the Apologist. Finally evidence from Israeli scientists was provided to show that the genetics of the Palestinians were practically identical to that of the purer Jews, with the admixture of "a little Arabic DNA consistent with "a small" degree of immigration from surrounding countries. Even more painful for the Apologists was the statement by Prof Ariela Oppenheim that the 'priestly' Cohenic gene - the indication of ultimate purity amongst Jews - was also carried by Palestinians. But here's the interesting thing. This is not new. All of this information was supplied (in perfect context and with full references) many times before on this forum. And to date NONE of these facts have been refuted. But nonetheless the repetition of this Myth continues - this very week, in fact. Why?
Resurgent Myth 2: The Palestinians were not ethnically cleansed by the Zionist militia in 1948/49 This is the TOP Zionist myth - Numero Uno. And it popped up again a few days ago, after having been shredded at least half-a-dozen times on this forum in the past. I suspect that these resurgences have been fuelled by a combination of two factors: 1) The recognition of Palestine as a State by the United Nations General Assembly, and ... 2) The international fall-out that is (and will continue) arriving due to the current Israeli regime's intention to further violate international law by building settlements on ground that does not belong to them, and exporting its citizens into territory gained by war, which is in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions. The Apologists need to shore up the defensive wall by repeating these Myths which, with sufficient volume, convince the gullible sectors in the West that Israel respects justice and the rule of law. There is one contrary voice on this forum - Gilos - who has realised that Israel has broken innumerable laws, but he maintains that it is necessary for her survival. As I said - at least he is honest.
