France is a great example of what happens when you attempt to impose an unviable system on an unwilling population. I’m not sure why you would bring it up, but...thanks I guess?

Also, Sicily is only 10 miles wide. A dollar a mile is a pretty expensive way to travel, wouldn’t you say? In contrast, the flights from Chicago to Minneapolis that I posted above are about a quarter a mile...to fly...

You make some good points; NE high-speed - where it makes the most sense - is problematic.

But trains :rock_slayer: and the obstacles can be overcome with the will to do it. :salute:

Yikes - China, Japan and most of Europe will be very upset to hear this!

How many couldn't get space for their unicorn in the cattle car?

But yeah, trains VASTLY safer. :)

Luckily, I posted multiple links AND there's Google.

By just about every reasonable measure, trains are VASTLY safer. :)

    Track trespass, yes.

    Already posted about it/discussed it.

You may want to read the thread before responding to it...? :)

But your figure doesn't identify the number of suicides, and is dwarfed by the holocaust created by cars each year. :(

Trains are INCREDIBLY safe ways to TRAVEL.

    :)

It could be SO great! :)

But only with the will! :salute:

The bus is actually even safer than the train - already posted in multiple articles in this thread you may want to read before replying to - :) - but yeah: the bus and the train are the super-safest ways to go AFTER air travel, which, while hellish, is safest of all.

Cars are a mess in nearly every way. :(

Your links made multiple comparisons, but yes - planes are safest. :)

The links you posted DO compare across multiple methods including cars, trains, planes, etc., but planes are safest, yes. :)

Then bus, then train, and cars are a miserable last.
