Aaron Hernandez (formerly of the NE Patriots was apparently found dead in his cell very early this morning. This is breaking news, and I will try to post more as I hear it and try to post a link.

Is it too soon to say "life comes at you fast?"

I thought Hernandez just won an acquittal? Why subject yourself to a second trial if you're thinking suicide regardless of the outcome? Fishy.

He still faced life in prison without parole.
The second trial was mere formality. He was never walking out of a cell.

He knew all that a long time ago. Much easier to kill yourself in prison than a county jail. Less supervision. More to it?
OOPS ... didn't realize he'd returned to prison.

I don't quite understand why the news this morning was reporting this as a sad event? The guy MURDERED someone and was in for life. Why is this tragic? He just saved us millions. Its kind of a boon.

He was a violent man, with violent friends who had a perfectly horrible childhood. He threw his life away.

Of course this is a story. Liberals love the "minority rises above station, does bad things, society hammers them back into the ground narrative".

Making it marginally existential appeals to the internal liberal smug. So, the message is, rise, but not too fast, and not too far, and when you ultimately fall, liberals will be there to gloat.

Sadly, there's a lot of truth in that.

My guess would be that while he was serving time, his routine was set and predictable. With the trial, he got a little bit of change. More travel, wearing real clothes, etc. After he won, it was a Pyrrhic victory and maybe going back to that routine was just too much. He probably couldn't emotionally process having won his case yet his situation didn't change at all.

That was a trial over a different death. He had already been sentenced to life in the other case.

Don't know how he couldn't. This was a sepearte case entirely from the one in which he was sentenced to life. Regardless of the outcome of the latest case, he was going back to jail and he knew that.
