We're actually lucky that Putin showed his true face early and the world could put them back in their place. Their economy was growing gang busters until the sanctions hit.

Their economy has tanked almost 40% in less than 5 years. To put that in perspective The Great Depression saw a loss of 26$ of total GDP at its worst. THAT is how big a deal it

Putin could have just let this go for another decade or so and launched his "anti-west" campaign early. Instead he shot his load too early and now the Russian economy has had to go it alone from too small a scale.

Did you know California's economy is almost twice all of Russia?

Well, time to spoil your fun: we're in different economic zone, with different prices. I doubt bums have vacations at sea, computers, or, for example, HOMES. This only rational piece of text in the thread was provided to you by me, myself, and I. Enjoy it - there won't be other moments of sanity in thread.

Maesto, cue in the propaganda about "horrible ulus".

First - relatives. Second - two already found new jobs. I stated that minor business got swept by corporations because of sanctions.

There was a recent survey that indicated that half of American's cannot pay all their monthly bills and don't have $400 in savings.

I am not sure we are doing that much better.

Against regular citizens? Yeah, sounds like something that's gonna drive votes from man that opposes these sanctions. Clever thinking - hurt somebody's family and they will certainly will be eager to negotiate with you.

Oh, wait - that's how USA subjugated Japan in Second World War, through a brutal murder of one hundred fourty six thousand humans of all ages. Yes, in that key it indeed sounds as something that US government would consider being effective measure. Worked against REAL americans too, after all.

Still wanna claim sanctions being "effective"?

And don't forget the minor business that got hurt by the economic crisis. More money in the posession of corporations, especially ones that have ties with "United Russia" 100% gonna harm them. It is such a torture to have more money and less competition in your business.

What's funny is that at the same time the EU has admitted that the sanctions haven't worked, and Russia is as strong as ever, some posters here continue living in their dream world.

What I think Litwin should take notice of, is that Russia's defenses are now equal to Nato even though they spend so much less. Shoigu said in the Duma that Russia spends 11 times less than the United States on defense and one-third less than China.

But that's understandable because Russia doesn't have to import raw materials or any parts for its arms industry. Everything is manufactured in Russia and labor is cheap because they keep the value of the Ruble low.

Shoigu said that the upkeep of one US soldier is $510,000 on average, $170,000 in China and $54,000 in Russia...

Yes, I was never overly impressed with their victory parades on red square back in 80s, claiming we did all by ourselves defeat Germans, was team effort and lend lease, never a mention of US help.

I believe Putin will brutally cling to power, as is usually the case with sanctions, ordinary Russians will suffer.... and hate
