The Supreme Court just upheld ObamaCare. Even that silly twit Roberts got the idea that since congress has the power to tax, and that the penalty for not having insurance is a tax, it's all kosher. Suck on that, Mittens.
No one doubted the Congress had the power to tax. If you read Robert's opinion, his reasoning is a mess. I doubt this is an opinion he's proud off.
I wonder how the Chief Justice went from an opposing opinion to allowing this? I wonder how much his vote was worth?
I don't think he was bribed; I think he was intimidated. There have been stories about him every couple of days since the oral arguments, basically blaming him for partisan 5-4 decisions. Oddly, this 5-4 decision is praised and admired. I guess it's statesmanship when your side wins.
Just wait....you're gonna hear all sorts of melodrama and gloom and doom....stuff like "The endo of America is nigh"..."liberals are stupid"...yadayadayada..... I noticed that righties were going through the 5 stages of grieving yesterday, and posted about that....then my buddy told me Ed Schultz ripped me off and had that in his broadcast last night...or his writers more likely just came up with the idea. Anyway....the righties have shifted gears at the command of their Fox News GOP masters...now they're calling it the largest tax increase in history, and they've dusted off all thier 2009 Tea Party rhetoric...and getting their boots on.....
Actually, that's not really what happened. Basically, Roberts did a fantastic job of washing his hands of the whole mess. He threw it back in the laps of Congress, the President, and voting Americans. That said, I believe that the last 24 hours has been the largest fund-raising day for Romney since the campaign began. This is going to be an interesting election.
The scotus also has given millions of people more access to life-saving, non-bankrupting medical care. Not a bad day's work.
