Nope.. Agriculture and oil both failed in 2005 and Assad is too passive, cruel and stupid to govern.. He's a thug just like his father before him and his uncle Raafic the drug lord.

It already is in different parts - there's nothing left of it except demolished buildings because Assad and Putin have been fighting the jihadists to stop them taking over Syria.

Then you are mostly ignorant of the conflict in Syria. Obama supported rebel opposition which was Al Nusra and ISIS. There were a few other groups within the rebel opposition in the early years of the war but these were of the same ilk as Al Nusra and ISIS. These along with the foreign jihadists then coalesced into the modern incarnation of ISIS or worked along side these groups.

The "Moderate Rebel Lie" was just that .. a big fat lie/false narrative. This is not some big secret.

It is well known that US arms were being shipped from Libya (Benghazi) as early as 2012. Hillary lied during the Benghazi hearings when questioned by Rand Paul but, we know now that she knew. This was reported by Fox and others.

Judicial watch also obtained documents from the Defense Intelligence Agency early in 2012 showing that they knew the Opposition was primarily comprised of radical Islamist's but this was who the US, Gulf States, and others supported while Russia, China and Iran supported the Regime. Again reported by Fox and others.

It is not for nothing that Tulsi Gabbard (and at least 9 others in Congress) are trying to re-instated the ban on giving support to known terrorist groups instituted after 911 but repealed in 2013 by Obama - so that he could give support to terrorists.

Biden (oops) contradicted Obama's "Moderate Rebel Lie" after a speech at Harvard and then went on to say how Saudi Arabia and others were arming Al Qaeda/Al Nusra and ISIS. Arming them with sophisticated US technology obviously - something Obama could have nixed if it were not for the fact that the CIA was helping to orchestrate the show.

Obama (in conjunction with Saud, Yemen and others) was responsible for arming the Rebel Opposition which led to the worst humanitarian crisis so far this decade - 500,000 dead and counting - the refugee crisis and the rise of the modern incarnation of ISIS.

That is how the History Books will read.

The FSA had over 200K SAA defectors in the early stages of the war, once obama showed he was not going to arm them they began leaning to the islamists who were receiving support.

Your unlinked claims of tidbits is not going to undermine 7 years of facts delivered by the world's major media outlets, syrians on the ground, thousands of interviews, etc.

I have previously given you links for each of the claims posted so you can stop with the disingenuous ignorance.

Next your appeal to the mainstream media (authority) would be a logical fallacy even the worlds major media outlets actually claimed what you are alluding to - which we are not sure what on earth you are talking about because you do not even state what "facts" you are referring to.

Your "FSA" comment is not supported but regardless. There were some defectors in the early stages of the war. So what, how do you figure that these defectors did not support the radical Islamist agenda given that was the nature of the rebel opposition right from the get go.

On the one hand he whole Syrian Army was no crucial factor, one the other hand it is very arguably if they were any better than other war participants, as from beginning on they left a trail of blood of war crimes behind them. While the IS was proud of its war crimes, publishing videos of how he cleansed his territory from "infidels" in the territory of the FSA Christians e.g. "disappeared" while FSA was officially appeasing where the IS was proud of its war crimes. It is possible that parts of the leadership of this - again - non-crucial force wanted to have a Syria for the better. After all, you cannot support such groups when you are not sure and parts of them committ war crimes, if you wanna claim its for a peaceful Syria, not just your own interests.

Its for a very good reason that Obama and John Kerry prevented the support of these groups with the exception of the Kurds. As for Jimmy Rivers, yes, you can refute him with links and sources, but he is more quick in fabricating a new myth. It does not have any sense to argue. Look above, he claims that 85% of the Syrian population consisted of Sunni muslims, you can refute that with a reliable source and he goes on with his trololol "oh smells like Russia" and so on.

You are determined to claim Obama and KSA armed ISIS.. They never did. You have the most basic issues of Syria wrong.

    Really? When?

So the entire planet's media, arab, british, american, etc thousands of interviewed syrians both inside and outside the country are ALL "wrong" - but you're right? Yeah, good luck winning that argument.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Syrian_Army

"The first defections from the Syrian Army during the Syrian uprising may have occurred end of April 2011 when the army was sent into Daraa to quell ongoing protests. There were reports that some units refused to fire on protesters and had split from the army.[24] Video footage showed civilians helping defecting soldiers who had been shot for refusing orders.[25]

Defections, according to unverified reports, continued throughout the spring as the government used lethal force to clamp down on protesters and lay siege to protesting cities across the country, such as Baniyas, Hama, Talkalakh, and Deir ez-Zor, and there were reports of soldiers who refused to fire on civilians and were summarily executed by the army.[26]

At the end of July 2011, with the Syrian uprising (or civil war) running since March 2011, a group of defected Syrian Army officers established the ‘Free Syrian Army’ to bring down the Assad government. On 29 July 2011, Colonel Riad al-Asaad and a group of uniformed officers announced the formation of the Free Syrian Army or 'Syrian Free Army',[27] with the goals of protecting unarmed protesters and helping to "bring down this regime", in a video on the Internet where Riad al-Asaad spoke alongside several other defectors.[8][17]

Colonel Al-Asaad explained that the Free Army’s formation resulted from the defecting soldiers' sense of nationalistic duty, loyalty to the people, the need for decisive action to stop government killings, and the army’s responsibility to protect unarmed people. He proceeded to announce the formation of the Free Syrian Army, and its intention to work hand in hand with the people and with demonstrators to achieve freedom and dignity, bring the government ("the regime"/"the system") down, protect the revolution and the country’s resources, and stand in the face of the irresponsible military machine that protects the "system".[7][17]

Colonel Al-Asaad called on the officers and men of the Syrian army to "defect from the army, stop pointing their rifles at their people's chests, join the free army, and form a national army that can protect the revolution and all sections of the Syrian people with all their sects." He said that the Syrian army "[represents] gangs that protect the regime", and declared that "as of now, the security forces that kill civilians and besiege cities will be treated as legitimate targets. We will target them in all parts of the Syrian territories without exception";[17] "you will find us everywhere at all times, and you will see that which you do not expect, until we re-establish the rights and freedom of our people."[28]

The rebels were NOT islamist in the war's beginning stages, it was only after obama abandoned syria that the rebels began turning to the islamists and their supporters for help with ammunition, etc a few years AFTER the uprising began, which was driven by peaceful marches until assad began slaughtering people:

This is not ancient history from Greece in 2,400 BC, it all happened in the last 5-7 years, do you think that people are simply going to forget what they've been reading? These events have been well documented for YEARS, so give it a rest.

Your posts are beginning to sound like russian/iran-propaganda and gaslighting nonsense.

A couple points of clarification. The "FSA" was made up of primarily IS and Al Nusra. There was no "moderate rebel" opposition of an significance (the Kurds were fighting a different battle and not really against Assad so much so these are not counted as part of the Opposition and the US was not arming the Kurds as much as they should have been IMO)

Obama and Kerry did not prevent support from going to Al Nusra or the Islamist Extremists that went on to create the modern incarnation of ISIS.

No the FSA wasn't made up of ISIS.. The FSA began with Sunni conscripts who defected Assad's army.

    Al Nusra was not ISIS..

    The Kurds were against Assad.

Look at Assad's history and what happened between 2005 and 2011. Nearly everyone was against Assad including some Christians, Shia and Kurds.

The civil war began with a Kurdish man pouring gasoline on himself January 26th, 2011 and setting himself on fire in protest.

You've absolutely no clue whatsoever, no matter how many times you get corrected.

Go look up a timeline of when ISIS entered syria, it wasn't for several YEARS after the FSA formed.

That was what I wanted to point out. The Free Syrian Army committed countless war crimes and in some cases ethnically cleansed territory under their control e.g. from Christians. Whether or not you can distinguish them from jihadists like Al Nusra, ISIS, Army of Islam or whatsoever is to be argued, one can at least not say it was a moderate army after all ... taking into account that even if you come to the conclusion, that they consisted not solely of jihadists, it becomes silly to refer to the "moderate rebels" because of a very small army, which could have consisted of some non-jihadists as well. The part of "moderate rebels" was neglectable.

They did indeed. Nontheless they stopped plans that were far more stupid when they found out that they had been duped by the rebels when they made up a false flag operation in which they kiled civilians with poison gas in 2014.

The truth is that the above mentioned to different individual degrees all had their part in the downfall of Syria and the creation of the hell is was for years, for deaths and mass killings. They are not the only one Turkey e.g. played as well a significant role in supporting IS and other jihadist organzinations.

The Syrian Baath regime - without a doubt - proved itself to be a vile, ruthless and power-obsessed leadership as well, when they made the decision to rather shoot down demonstrators than making just moderate reforms. The Iran, the Hezbollah and Russia on the other side backed the regime, but by all means and despite all disdain for the Shii militant groups it wasnt them to go into Syria labelling large parts of the population as infidels and trying to exterminate them.

Nope.. They had NOTHING to do with the collapse of Syria in 2005.. Read up on the drought and the collapse of both the oil sector and agriculture.

Sunnis were a majority in Syria, not Shia. Assad couldn't govern.. He's just a crime boss. So ethnic cleansing was the next best thing. Iran and Russia have been a huge help in that endeavor.

I have seen video's of one of the FSA commanders giving a rah rah speech to ISIS as they took over an airbase and in an interview he is candidly talking about his Al Nusra brothers.

As usual when when it comes to your beloved Saud .. you are making things up.

So what ... that does not change the fact after ISIS was formed the "FSA" was comprised mostly of Al Nusra and ISIS.

Prior to ISIS one of the large groups was the Islamic Front ... (which merged with ISIS later) Same shart .. different name.

The name of the various groups does not matter ... what does matter is that the vast and overwhelming majority of the rebel opposition was radical Islamist's united in their desire to make Strict Saudi Style Sharia the law of the land.

I have proven this to you numerous times so spare me your disingenuous ignorance.

It was Obama that was claiming the FSA were "Moderates" as cover in case it was ever found out they were getting sophisticated arms from various nation states (including and coordinated by the US)

I have been studying this conflict since the protest movement when a friend of mine returned from a trip to Syria.
There is zero doubt that there is blood on Obama's hands.

Even if we say "Saudi did it".. the end use of US supplied Saudi arms must be accounted for.

There is no excuse for supporting the Islamist Rebel opposition in any way shape or form. All the Obama false narrative was geared towards support for the rebel opposition. The mainstream media was completely complicit in the cover up and any serious investigation into this issue proves this conclusively.

Free Syrian Army did collaborate with Al Nusra, (not ISIS) but the Saudis decided against supporting Nusra in mid 2011 because of lessons learned in Afghanistan.

I did not know you were fluent in Arabic.

The original FSA was made up of Sunni conscripts who defected from the Syrian Army, but that was more than a month before the US or Obama commented.

Did your friend talk about the Syrian Kurd who self immolated on Jan 26th?

"So what"? That's your "argument"? You get proven wrong, and don't even understand why.

The FSA has THOUSANDS of sunni SAA defectors, they did not need or want to have anything to do with groups outside syria, and were fighting them for YEARS. It was only after obama and the West abandoned them that they softened their approach to them because it was those groups who the GCC states were providing weapons to.

To most sane people, if the choice is be slaughtered due to a lack of ammunition/weapons - or ally yourself with someone you might despise, but is also against your enemy - the decision should be obvious.

Uh, yes they do. I can see your understanding of the conflict is practically non-existent. al nusra was indigenous to syria and had NOTHING to do with ISIS. You need to stop offering uninformed generalizations of the groups and lumping them together, a sign you have no clue what you're talking about.

Again, WRONG. There were dozens, if not hundreds, of islamist groups fighting the regime, some very much so and others barely who actually wanted some means of democratic rule. You really need to stop posting this nonsense and go research the groups and history of the conflict.

"Proven" what? LOL, you can't even tell the difference between the groups aligned against assad. Th only thing you've proven is your lack of basic knowledge of the conflict.
