Right. There shouldn't be live ammunition. That's why Baldwin hired someone who would be in charge of those things.

Imagine if he even took 2 minutes to learn how to clear a weapon and had taken about 15 seconds to look.

What a heavy burden that would have been upon him.

so are you saying we should mandate everyone that handles a gun get training first... maybe a good idea

as for in this case, the guns all should have been harmless, people were paid to make sure of that

It's good practice, but no criminal worthy. People wanted him to be found guilty, yet I can't remember a time when other actors were found guilty under similar circumstances.

Incompetence and failure to do the job aren't illegal. They are tortuous. You might as well jail whomever hired her.

If you drive your car recklessly and accidentally kill someone you are still charged with manslaughter. In this case its a bit more severe since her JOB was to secure and literally provide firearms for the set.

The armorer didn't pull the trigger like the driver of a car. She failed to do her job. Someone else pulled the trigger. Not a crime. It is a tort.

I agree with your first paragraph.

Problem with your second paragraph is, assuming same law as UK, you would be charged with manslaughter if the guy you higher is not a registered company. Very important that anyone you hire to do a job has full liability insurance else you will be responsible for any accident including an injury to the person you hire - don't pay someone $50 cash in hand for someone to replace some roof tiles. He falls off, you will be responsible for all legal and medical bills and can be charged

not the way it works in the US

in fact, Baldwin would be the victim of the sabotage, as whoever put live bullets there would be the guilty one
