For one thing, leftists already hate Christians as a group overall, so let's not start with the false premise that you liberals accept Christians as liberally as you want us to accept Muslims.

Secondly, an extremist in one religion is not the same as an extremist in another. An extremist Jain, for example, would be so concerned about nonviolence that he/she would be almost paralyzed. Extremism is only a problem if the core of the religion is not peaceful, which is the case with Islam.

And, like always, tu quoque reasoning comes into play, and Christianity is dragged through the mud in order to make Islam look better. Few of those groups have any kind of religious grounds for their positions and are acting outside of the religion, and the ones that do (Westboro), have less than 100 members around the world. Compare that with the millions of Muslims out there today practicing the extreme version of their religion, which is not at all contrary to the central beliefs of Islam.

 

I highly doubt anyone believes "all Muslims are terrorists", but nice strawman, just the same.
