I can't answer this poll, as it's simply too vague. If it came down to a fight, I would be on the side of the Constitution. Not a lot of nebulous concepts I would be willing to die for, but freedom is on that short list.

    This poll is unclear.

The United States IS the status quo. If you join a group of revolutionaries, you are fighting against the United States.

BTW, armed insurrection is illegal (per USC 2383), even though that is exactly how the nation was founded.

In addition, the Insurrection Act was modified in 2007 to expand the powers of the President to:

"Restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order."

This is a catch-all statement circumventing the Posse Comitatus Act allowing the President to order US troops to attack US citizens for any reason at any time.

Apparently it took two centuries for red coats to become fashionable again.

The only way this poll couldn't be clear is if you are someone making unreal gains off of globalism, so you don't mind fiat currency, free trade, outsourcing, etc. Basically, the fact that both parties support the exact same economic policies on an a monetary and international level. The majority of Americans struggling are realizing, as they investigate the current economic climate, that globalists control both parties and have no intention of America ever doing well again. Those who want future generations of America to have it better and better, those who can't hop on a private plane to get out if everything goes to crap, they are called nationals, and are the victims of globalization, and are being taxed with zero representation in Washington. The exact reason why the 1st revolution was fought. Washington and those around him weren't starving. It was about principal and national sovereignty. I see arguing about anything, caring about anything, absolutely pointless if our nation is not sovereign. Do you all honestly want America as a nation to be as ineffectual in its own operations, as the states now are in their own right, compared to said federal government? Globalism is the bridge to one world. That means another government on top of everything else. That means the REAL capital 20k miles away verses a couple of thousand. And please don't equate America's top as "America", as they most evidently in their own actions prove they only have concern for themselves and none for the nation that made them. Globalists are anti-nations. You can't have globalists in control of a nation than wonder why things "magically" always go wrong. WAKE UP.

Globalism can be broken. Use its pressure points. It will unravel.

No, not true. I do greatly mind fiat currency, but that doesn't change the fact that the poll is very vaguely- worded.

Nationalism vs Globalism is the fight. All other arguments on earth are now irrelevant until this dispute is settled. America's top are all globalists, the majority of America, nationalists. We're under a regime that has no more concern for our best interests than China's leadership. EVERY problem in America stems from this FACT. How long it takes a sweeping majority to realize this is the only question. And of course, what happens when they do. Hence, the poll.

If you know ways within the system to break it please share. The only way I can think is dividing the top while unifying the majority. Small business owners, workers, left or right, all have more in common then they will ever have different, and all have a vested interest nationally. How do we divide the top? The service sector can't go global except for retail and the products they purchase. However, if you can convince them that slowly but surely their stores will close as no money is left, I think the service sector as a whole might fund a revolt from the shadows, while kissing globalist butt in the light. You also have the military industrial complex, who, unless they are truly that bad at math, must realize globalism in the long term is the end of their existence. They exist forever with a protected American market, as if we had a coup, globalists would no doubt use their influence in other nations to convince the world's populace to attack us and force us to comply.

The service sector can go global and is. These days a lot of federal income tax returns are being prepared in India. Same deal with cookie cutter legal work. It's hard to believe. Moving on...

Freedom of navigation is an interesting concept.

America has been an imperial status quo power. That has had economic benefits, but has imposed tremendous burdens. It was called Pax Americana. As part of Pax Americana the US has guaranteed freedom of navigation on the high seas and coastal littorals.

America is ceasing to be a status quo power whether it wants to or not. Why should the American Navy protect the freedom of navigation of Chinese oil tankers carrying oil from the Middle East all the way to the coast of China? We're doing it for free. The Chinese Navy can't protect its merchant fleet from Somalis or Indonesian pirates.

Why shouldn't the US Navy protect only American flagged vessels? During the Iran/Iraq War of the eighties Kuwaiti tankers reflagged as American so they would not be attacked by Iranians.

Why shouldn't the merchant vessels of the world reflag as American, pay the fees under US law, and sail in peace. What about requiring those vessels to insure using American insurers? Why not require American inspectors and pilots? How about requiring crews to hire half their personnel from among US citizens? It would be the safe thing to do.

It would be open season on any vessel without an American flag and an American crew. Without an American flag flying, the pirates of the world would swarm the other flag carriers.

That's just one of the things I've been thinking about.

LOL I like "fight for America" - it essentially means, fight for anything you support haha that's half of America's problem now - Americans stand for the mystic concept of "America" rather than some kind of principle. But they aren't too different from most people in that respect.

You will have to choose between an independent Australia, free to form it's own direction and choices, or to be just another state under one world yourself one day MDF. I hope on that day you realize freedom is more important than your own existence, and do your countrymen proud.

Yeah but I'm not going to "fight for Australia" because that could mean ANYTHING! What is "America" and what is "Australia"? These are invented notions to describe collective groups of people. Outside of that notion of nation state, they are meaningless descriptors - nothing more.

    Define 'freedom'.

My 'countrymen'? Another illogical notion. The whole idea of nations is an invention, and a stupid one at that. I dont need to make anyone proud but myself. That's the reality of it. There's no need, in fact good reason not to, be 'proud' about anything - isnt pride a vice, not a virtue?

People should have a right to choose their own path. Counties are now neutered by states. States are neutered by the federal government. And now you are claiming that the federal government being neutered by a world government is no big deal. I don't know ANYONE who feels represented by Washington D.C. I sure as hell don't want a continental government on top of our federal, with a world government on top of the continental. Unfortunately, my country is as plagued with as many people who think "freedom" and "nation" are superficial terms as apparently Australia is. Now if you don't mind, this is a poll by an American, for Americans. And you sticking your globalized nose in it is the essence of the complaint.

    I agree.

No, countries ARE states, more specifically 'nation-states'.

Where did I say that? All I said was the notion of the nation was an invented, irrational social contrivance.

No, the nation is certainly superficial, but I dont think freedom is necessarily - my point there was that freedom is a HIGHLY subjective word.

I dont see what was so "globalized" about my points. 'America' is an invention, this is undeniable. To say you fight for America means nothing accept in as far as you define what you mean by America, here and now. Outside of that, as an American, there should be no reason you cant engage with my points even though they are from a foreign mouth.

People identifying with each other based upon certain aspects of their lives, principals and geography is as natural as the sun rising and setting. That is why we root for the home team against the rival across town. Will root for the rival across town against another country of the state. And that team from clear across the state nationally. And of course, that national team when in competition globally. Arguing against national identity is an exercise in futility. The only time humans will unite globally is if there is a rival in the universe, to which I know of none. Now since your own nation means nothing to you, I don't know why you would be so interested in the dealings of another "made up entity" clear across the globe.

Interesting concept, and one that makes much sense to me, since I am a bit of a protectionist, within reason.
But think about the outcry here and abroad, and how would you go about implementing it?

As for the poll, options a and b seem the same, at least for the time being.
Revolution would come to a complete halt in large cities, and mob rule for survival, looting would take over, while country folks would protect their own.
Not sure if a revolution would even be possible. I can't fathom it.

Do you like air travel? How about TV, Radio, The Internet? I bet you like all of the above...don't you.

Do you know what one of the MAJOR contributors to the notion of a Global Community is? COMMUNICATIONS AND TRAVEL!!!

So what would you do? Ground all air travel? Turn off communications channels?

I am not gonna vote in your cute yet obviously lop-sided poll...mostly because ITS NONSENSE!!!

Ya don't like the natural progression humanity is taking towards a Global Community? Gee whiz Beav...ITS TOO LATE!

What is happening is not a conspiracy...its a NATURAL RESULT OF OUR OWN TECHNOLOGY!

Now...I'm "assuming" you're a rational person, and thus understand that swimming against a current that is overwhelming...is NUTS!

So...instead of beating yourself up over something you can do nothing about...wouldn't it be more rational to turn around and swim WITH the current? Perhaps you can even find a way for this now era to provide you with some pleasant benefits...

    ...LIKE THIS FORUM FOR EXAMPLE!

How would you like the government of the state you're from to be concerned more with other states than your own? Of course the world is a smaller place. That is no excuse for a federal government that blatantly doesn't have the best interest of Americans at heart. More people live here than the top.

And how do you figure the federal government doesn't have America's best interest at heart? And who are YOU to decide WHAT America's best interests are? Because of some misbegotten righteous indignation? Look at the numbers and facts, and realize that what you are doing is hurtful to your precious America.

There is NO GOD ANYWHERE that would propose its creations purposefully hurt themselves. So why has this Abrahamic God apparently demanded so much blood? So much pain? If you believe in this fable...then any rational person would take one look at this history and say, "You blame a God for your own greed and blood-thirst. You are crazy."

Please. Do some investigating into things like the federal reserve and "free trade" before you come piping off like you actually know what you're talking about.

America has no legal obligation to ensure freedom of navigation. It simply did so because that's what hegemon's do in order to protect the imperial system.

This new policy could be done in stages. The policy could start as a cost cutting measure in Congress. It would be contended that we can't afford to patrol the world's oceans in order to ensure freedom of navigation. The legislation would be called "Protection of American Flag Carrier's Act."

Foreign reaction? We're already hated. Who cares about their opinions?

Few powers could afford to build up their naval forces sufficiently to provide safety for their vessels. Those who can are welcome to do so. The American Navy is more powerful than the rest of the world's naval forces.

Some investigating? You mean like this?
    http://benefitof.net/benefits-of-nafta/

    or this?
    http://www.ustr.gov/sites/default/files/NAFTA Benefits.pdf

Admittedly a little dated...but you get the idea...

Now...I'm quite sure you can find just as many T-Bag sites that will contradict these FACTS.

    But check out these FACTS.
    http://www.ttgconsultants.com/articles/freetrade.html

Again...you may attempt to swim against a current that will sweep you away...or you can accept that globalization IS GONNA HAPPEN...whether you like it or not.

So before YOU go "piping off" about something you obviously know little to nothing about...maybe you should ask yourself the obvious question...

    1. CAN I do anything about this?
    2. SHOULD I do anything about this?

Not at all, and even if it were, it wouldnt change the fact its irrational and stupid. Its as natural as any other form of arbitrary social division, prejudice and discrimination.

This argument doesn't support your case, its just an example of the effect of nationalism.

You have not explained nor shown how this is so.

Your proof of that is... what? You are now contradicting yourself. You just said people are becoming 'globalists' now you say they can never unite. So which is it?

Why would I not? Its the whole ideology of 'the nation' that interests me - why people delude themselves into worshiping such a concept when its just a socially contrived invention that really does nothing but discriminate and blind people to reality. This delusion and its various manifestations, is epitomized in your mindless rhetorical poll response of 'fight for America'. You never responded to my first point of how the idea of "America" in this answer could mean ANYTHING.

People flew planes into our buildings because of American hegemony. Not because of the withdrawal of American hegemony.
