In the high stakes game of fighting terrorism worldwide, no stone can be left unturned. The evil that engulfs the planet, despite 13 years of all out warfare, infests even the highest echelons of power, from banking to business, foreign nationals and now, even the Vatican. Yes, in an effort to protect the freedoms of privacy, democracy, and all that other stuff in that old document, the Obama administration spied on the Pope. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...ure-Pope-Francis-during-Vatican-conclave.html One wonders at a program that intercepts 46 million phone calls in a single week in a foreign country but can't release a new insurance plan they've had three years to work on. Maybe they should get the spies on Obamacare and Ms Sebelious working on spying.
Here's what I speculate about; by now our government must be fairly sure of the entire contents of the Snowden haul, and they know that the stuff is going to continue being parceleled out to the world revelation by revelation, and so why not just go ahead and make an across the board clean breast of things and say, "Heads up people, the U.S. did this, that, and the other -- but much of that bad stuff we've decided not to do anymore"? I mean are they really gaining by allowing this dance of a thousand cuts continue for month after month after month?
I may be way too cynic, even for my age and life experiences; I do not approve or disapprove of nations spying on each other - it is, what it is. What I'm incredulous about is that US had allowed Snowden to release as much of highly damaged information as he already done so. The same with wikileaks. Both happened on Obama watch, who begun his presidency with an apology tour, apologizing for an evil American ways. My conclusions? Any criticism toward United States is the music to Obama's ears.
