You can listen to Amongold/Zack's account (if you don't know, he's a well-known Twitch streamer and YouTuber) of how his mother is sick, currently on an oxygen machine at home. Chances are that she would not be in need of that right now if she had gotten vaccinated. The purpose of the video is just as an update to his audience, not to advocate vaccination, but to me it's another anecdote in a tragically long list of anecdotes of this sort and worth sharing. People who refuse to be vaccinated are taking a chance with their life. It's as simple as that. It's playing Russian roulette with an unfeeling, uncaring virus that continues to mutate into more communicable, more dangerous forms.

"Chances"? What are those chances exactly?

From what I've looked at, those chances are not extremely all that good.
It's definitely not a black & white thing.

I don't mean to derail your thread but a link to that is here:
Some thoughts about the vaccine's actual level of effectiveness

Then PLEASE stop voting for politicians who play Russian Roulette.

You will be unable to see the irony in that statement, I surmise.

They do something that's dangerous and then try to claim anyone who tries to stop them is dangerous.
    Psychological PROJECTION, most likely.

I'm sure moving off to a little isolated town in North Dakota would have 10 times more of a protective effect than getting the vaccine.

What do you think about that?

You could also continue to remain on lockdown and exercise extreme germophobic paranoia, and that will be more likely to be far more effective than the vaccine.

It's stupid to think of the vaccine as some magic savior. Why do you think that way??
It's just one tool, in a big basket of tools.

Certain tools might not work for certain people. No one is saying you have to use ALL the tools in the box.
I think that would be excessive and unreasonable, don't you?

How about if someone wants to do their "part", they can just wear a mask.
Lots of vaccinated people aren't even wearing a mask in many places.

And how come every time an Anti-Vaxxer posts a story, people say that is only an isolated story and doesn't mean anything or say anything about the statistics?

I'm sensing some huge double standards here.

I think moving to a littie isolated town in North Dakota is not an option for most, and would be pretty depressing for everybody else. Better just to get a simple vaccine and go on living your life.

They had an appointment to get the vaccine, but died from COVID-19

She was an animal lover in Kentucky who was a "bright ray of sunshine" to all who knew her. He was a father of two and "young soul" in Florida who could often be found out on the water on his boat. They were excited about the next chapters in their lives -- for her, a wedding; for him, his first grandchild.

Samantha Wendell and Shane O'Neal both also resisted getting vaccinated against COVID-19 for months, stemming from feelings of either fear or fearlessness, before deciding to make an appointment to get the shot. But before they could, they contracted COVID-19 and, following weeks of severe illness, died last month after doctors exhausted all options, their families said.

Their two tragic tales were shared publicly on social media and to news outlets by grieving family members trying to make sense of what happened, and maybe prevent others from going through the same loss.
