    Simple really. If the state can punish you for your thoughts what limits are there on the state?

    A crime is a crime because of the act (or in some cases possibly omissions). It should not be more of a crime or less of a crime because of the actor's thoughts about the crime.
    If you have hate crimes on the books you already have a tyrannical situation that is fraught with danger of the citizens.

    The expression retard is not a hate crime anywhere. It just means slow. I hope you don't want the state legislating what words are politically acceptable. I don't want them raiding my house and confiscating my sheet music.

    Also it allows them to charge the person twice for the same act, and maybe even four times if they can do it at a state and federal level.

    Well, altho I'll listen to Coulter occasionally, I'm not a 'fan' of hers... BUT for someone who's 'about as intelligent as urinal germs(?) - I'd say she's doing quite well for having authored several books, makes public appearances and is a frequent political commentator on tv...

    Coulter loves to rattle the libs cages and she's quite successful at it. Noting shy or coy about Coulter.... she simply says it as she sees it and the libs heads explode - every time. lol.........
