Several things come to mind looking at this; The "report" (see below) doesn't say this guy has "so many guns". It says he has one gun which he uses in his job as a security guard (legally presumably) but made the mistake of leaving it in a bag. He clearly isn't "anti-gun" but is in favour of some restrictions. I see no logical dissonance between supporting a ban on "assault weapons" for the general public and supporting the use of hand guns by security guards (regardless of whether than ban in itself makes sense). More interestingly I think is that fact that those it has clearly been mocked up as such, this isn't a news article produced by independent journalists. It's a press release, sent out by something called "PRNewswire" on behalf of "Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms" and published by the news website without any checks or review. The entire thing could be completely made up and nobody would know any better. This strikes me as grossly dishonest on all parts, bordering on fraudulent, and actually much more significant that some minor politician being caught with a gun somewhere he shouldn't have one.
He is anti-gun. Donne Trotter voting record and previous legislation that he has AUTHORED shows he is clearly anti-gun. Reminds me of Barbara Graham who one day is working for gun control group MMM and then on another day she is arrested for attempted murder with a gun. Something is fishy. No serious duty gun is .25 caliber.
Has he authored legislation for the banning of all guns or has he authored legislation for restrictions on the purchase and use of guns? Given that he apparently owns a gun, it's somewhat ridiculous to claim he is anti-gun but it is perfectly rational to make a distinction between being anti-gun and pro-gun control. After all, even the strongest gun-ownership advocates will support limitations for things like young children or convicted felons. That's gun control, just drawing the line at a different point. Of course, you could be just playing the game of demonising your opponents and don't really care about accuracy and honesty. I've really no idea. If you're really concerned, maybe you should seek out a more reliable source of information. You don't seem to care that you're basing your opinion on PR propaganda.
Let me spell it out to you. He is a hypocrite and a liar. It is 'guns for me, but no guns for you'. Duty guns are of substantial caliber, a .25 is not one of them.
No this is not a black and white issue (although I have read that some of the drive behind the gun culture started that way in America - but that is a different subject) There are people who can disagree on one aspect of guns and still agree on another.
His voting record is very clear. He is constantly voting against more gun ownership or carrying of guns. He has even authored legislation that will stop carrying guns and put more obstacles in place for owning a gun. Yet he carried a gun in a gun free zone, carried a gun in a city with highly restricted gun ownership, and was transporting the gun to a higly restricted gun zone. He is a hypocrite. Duty guns are not .25 caliber. He was lying to cover himself.
Tell us please, what major media source is so fair and balanced that the top leadership includes any form of diversity of ethnicity or opinion in its top positions? Who? Sen Trotter is just another part of the leftist Chicago political machine. As they are among the anti-individual gun rights pols in the nation. Their agenda is very well known: Blame the gun, don't punish the violent felon. That Trotter was caugt carring the very type of gun his political machine wants to ban the most IS hypocrisy. There are many other cases of the Leftist Power Elite using the guns they want to ban or over-regulate to protect their own sacred hides. Rosie O'Donnel, Sen Trotter and Pres Obama may as well say, "Guns are for me, not for thee."

"Blame the gun"? Who has been listening to too many NRA bumper sticker slogans? To be honest - this does less than change my mind - so bleeding what? ONE person in amongst all those who would like to see gun laws changed in America lTell me - does the converse also apply - every time someone who is pro-gun is found without one they are vilified for "not standing up for what they believe in"?
This story has of course been buried by the leftist major media. This is a blarring case of self-serving hypocrisy. This won't change your mind, I know, on gun control issues, but it might give an insight on many of the corrupt, self-serving hypocrites in the gun-control community. Imagine in your own country of Australia, if one the government lawmakers who banned semi-auto handguns was caught carrying one to protect himself? Would that not be a major news item there? Would that not make you question the motives and logic of oppressive gun control measures? The city of Chicago, where our glorious leader Obama began his career, is the same area where Trotter serves. Chicago has inacted an handgun ban for private citizens (an obvious violation of federal 2nd Amendment rights). I would find this just as amusing if we found that Bowerbird's home was raided to find an assortment of modern military rifles and handguns stockpiled there.

I don't play politics, I discuss it. I don't have a lot of information on this subject which is why I was asking questions. How can we have an honest discussion without the facts?
Fair enough, the people who ultimately control some 75% of the US major media: TV, newspapers, radio stations, cable and so on, are leftist liberals. Since oppressive restrictions on private gun owners is one of their primary objectives, the vast majority of news stories will be biased. Their tactic of "stacking the deck" or giving out their spin on a story to demonize the use of guns in private hands, will cause almost anyone to have their thinking swayed. As an exercise, take your favorite TV or cable network and newspaper, then look up the corporation the owns them (Viacom, Comcast, etc) and see who runs them, the top guys.
