    The government effectively caps the amount spent per patient. Monitoring employee compliance with health measures would cost too much.
    See above about why I don't trust skilled nursing facilities to monitor employee mitigation measures.
    I'm okay with vaccinating skilled nursing employees in order to protect the patients.
    As I said, I don't trust skilled nursing facilities to provide effective oversight of other mitigation measures because they don't have the money and expertise to run the programs.
    I was told about this...

    Of course there are caps on Medicaid and Medicare. But 70% of skilled nursing facilities are for profit.

    Even Wal-mart pays third parties to monitor employee health. You know how cheap Wal-mart is about employee compensation. If it is net profitable for Wal-mart to monitor health of employees, it would surely pay off in the healthcare fields like skilled nursing.

    Yikes. They can be trusted to monitor patient health, but not employee health. That’s terrifying.

    Yes, you’ve been clear about that. But you started here:

    That’s virtually every employee everywhere. Now it’s whittled down to just skilled nursing employees!

    As I said, that’s terrifying. If they are that incompetent I’m not sure they should be monitoring the health of patients. And the money issue would resolve itself in savings.

    You were told to care about masks by organizations that told people cloth masks were equivalent to respirators. You were told to care about masks by entities that told you it didn’t matter what kind of mask you wore, just as long as everyone complied. You were told to care about masks by entities that intentionally withheld N95 masks from the American public for 9 of the worst months of the pandemic. You were told to care about masks by other entities that claim you can be healthy at any weight and that obesity is bravery, not that it kills the obese and those around them. I’m not any of those. I’m more into providing helpful information based on evidence.

    Yes, and shelling out for alternatives to vaccination is costly and the results may not be significant for some time if the goal is improving worker health.
    It will inevitably cost more than mandating shots.
    So what?

    Healthy individuals under the age of 65 do not need to be vaccinated. People over the age of 65 and all those who have one or more of the CDC listed preconditions which result in a person being at high risk to Covid should be vaccinated. Mandating vaccination resulted in a spike in excess deaths. There has been at least one ruling awarding damages when a person who was forced to be vaccinated as a condition of employment experienced a serious adverse effect.

    There is nothing inevitable about mandating vaccination. Mandating vaccination should never be legislated or used as a condition of employment. Those at high risk should be protected both by themselves and by those around them. What was needed and not done was for public health officials to broadcast as clearly and as often as possible which individuals are at high risk. That was not done. Instead the entire population was restricted in its actions hoping that the high risk individuals would be protected. They weren't.

    Again which scenario offers the greatest protection to a high risk person. Ten vaccinated healthy individuals individuals infected with Covid wearing surgical masks in a room with a high risk vaccinated person wearing a surgical mask or ten health individuals infected with covid wearing no masks in a room with an unvaccinated high risk individual wearing a P100 respirator? It's obvious that the well protected high risk person is the best protected.

    Could you possibly change the spam record?! Your opinion has been expressed on the matter more than enough. You are ignoring countless replies and making the same damn claim over and over again.

    "Need to be vaccinated" means what? You don't need to be vaccinated against polio, but it's probably a good idea for most of us.
    Your metric is based on what data?
    Again, based on what data?
    This doesn't make sense.
    So, I'm hiring someone to look after their 98-year-old mother shouldn't insist on an employee getting vaccinated for RSV, influenza and covid?
    Ah, you mean like a son protecting his 98-year-old mother from a 26-year-old clubbing caregiver who refuses to get vaccinated against RSV, influenza and covid?
    What little they did was in some instances drowned out by a-holes crying "Fake News!" and MAGA morons telling people the "clotshots" would kill them.
    They were in Canada next door and...

    If we had done as well as Canada, more than a half-million Americans would have been eating dinner with their loved ones on Easter. There's something truly sick about the indifference of MAGA types (especially) to the suffering of their fellow Americans.

    Indeed, an opinion expressed 5 times in more or less the same one-liner on page 33 alone!

    Surgical masks are losers compared to a P100 respirator (worn properly). I have received covid vaccinations and wore a P100 respirator. Who is better off--someone who just wears a P100 respirator or someone who also gets vaccinated?

    Because I've been touting P100 respirators for more than a couple of years.

    Michado your time taken is appreciated. He may not read it but many of us do and its the only way to deal with ignorance.
    Its what we homo sapiens do. When we are afraid we create faith based stories to comfort ourselves.

    That said we all need to work together in stopping the spread of false info and not appealing to fear based scripts.

    You know what M, I think our greatest challenge now comes from the toxic pollution we have caused in our eco system and the global climate change have triggered.

    Viruses are a part of the life cycle and will always exist along side bacteria, fungii, and diseases directly caused from pollution, micro waves, radiation, poor diet. There is no conspiracy. Its called the delicate balancing act of the ecosystem and how every one of us life forms at whatever level we may be impact on other life forms in what we do and choose. We can harm or heal others and ourselves based on our choices.

    Thanks again for the responses.
    Lol yooz spell reel gud two.

    Vaccination should not be mandated. It's much better to have a 98 year old mother wear a P-100 mask than relying on her protection based on the actions of others which do not provide absolute protection. Vaccinated individuals can and do spread viruses.

    It’s an individual’s decision on whether to be vaccinated.

    Yep. The "trend" for conspiracy theorists and the stupid websites they frequent, to fail completely in their understanding of statistics!

    Assign an arbitrary number to each figure (reflecting percentage):
    Vaccinated = 6
    Unvaccinated = 4

    Obtain weighting factor:
    US Vaccination percent is 80%
    Factor to make 100 = 1.25
    US non vaccinated is 20%
    Factor to make 100 = 5

    Multiply against arbitrary number:
    Vaccinated = 7.5
    Unvaccinated = 20
    Total 27.5

    Adjusted percentage:
    Vaccinated = 27%
    Unvaccinated = 73%

    And? Do you actually understand what I just posted!?

    A ratio of 40% to 60% is meaningless as a direct comparison when one side has only 20% of the population! You MUST adjust accordingly.

    Here, see if you can get it:
    A group of people is comprised of 90 men and 10 women.
    Fifty percent of the women are over 50 - that's 5. Ten percent of the men are over 50 - that's 9.

    "Therefore" (according to this useless "logic") the men are 180% more likely to be over 50!
