In the process of dissecting Wendt's "Anarchy is what the states make of it" and I'm having trouble locating his argument on order underneath all the territorial pissing that makes up most of the article. Can anyone help?
This is what I wrote in Political Science Research Methods.(7th edition.) Constructionist thinking now plays a strong role in international relations theory, where a concept such as anarchy is not considered a given and immutable cause of the behavior of states (for example, their desire for security through power politics). Rather, terms like this one have to be understood in terms of what actors (individuals, states) make of them. A good introduction is Colin Hay, Political Analysis.
