Any Doctor Who fans? Because I'd like to rant a little.

No they'd over milked the whole idea and knew it. The writing in this last series has been terribly weak. Almost as bad as the Colin Baker days

I love love love Doctor Who. I'm actually a little excited about Peter, but Matt will always be my favourite. But I do agree this season was a little weak, except for the ending. Well, The first episode was great and then it started to dip during the middle.

Finally caught up on all the current episodes. Never liked Martha, she was way to clingy. I didn't like Donna at first but she grew on me. Amy, Rory, and Clare are all good. The one thing that I don't like is it seems like all the companions have to have something special about them now. Just give him normal companions who are along for the ride.

Matt Smith never really felt like the doctor to me. Eccleston and Tennant could both do a variety of emotions and could be intimidating but Smith is silly, friendly, and caring. Not bad traits mind you but it's hard to feel threatened when he talks. They may as well have made the fez a permanent addition to his character.

New Doctor Who pre-Smith was pretty good. Had its own feel, and the writing was solid. Since Matt Smith took over it's been a complete disaster. The Doctor is pretentious and dreamy, the side-characters are Twilightesqe, and the writing has clearly been readjusted to fit the 12-15 aged female demographic.

It's basically a preteen soap. Sure, this was present with Ecc. and Tennant, but it was never the central focus of the series, until now.

They need to start making Doctor Who for Doctor Who, not Harry Potter, fans.

Hopefully that will change when Peter takes over as the Doctor. You need someone who can pull of both dark and light as the Doctor and while Eccleston and Tennant were both capable of doing that, Smith lacked the ability convincingly pull of dark and threatening.

IMO Smith will go down as the greatest Doctor of them all. That being said...

I didn't think anyone could surpass Eccleston. When I first saw Tennant I thought "Who is this pretty boy?"

    But he did.

Then when we lost Tennant and got Smith I didn't think anyone could surpass Tennant.

    But Smith did...

Each Doctor brings his own persona to the series and makes THAT DOCTOR his own. We'll see in the next season...

But I'm still butt hurt over losing Smith, River, Amy and Rory. I don't think DW can ever surpass that story arc.
