I've been playing it for a few years. I play a bit here and there as the fancy takes me. The great thing about Eve is that you don't skill up like in most MMOs. Instead you train and this training occurs whether you're logged in or not. It means even casual players of the game such as myself won't fall behind. The "bad" thing is that you'll never catch up with people who have a longer subscription time than you. One of the complaints about Eve Online is that playing it is a job, but then what MMO isn't? Sure, you want to be a miner in the game you can and then you'll be spending long stretches of time watching your mining ship mine asteroids, but you can do that while you surf the net just alt tabbing every now and then to check your ship's Ore Hold and then warping back to a spacestation to refine and sell the ore. I do that at times and then when I want to see some action I go and do a combat mission.
