Biden had 6 months to institute his own policy.

Everything Trump did that you're complaining about, the Democrats would have been even more likely to do than Conservatives.

The Afghan government desperately needed air support and reinforcements, but Biden refused to allow it.

Trump's deal needed some force behind it to get the Taliban to abide by the deal. That force was lacking under Biden.

I do not believe for a moment that this resurgence totally came out of nowhere and caught the US military by surprise.

We can’t provide air support forever and also leave.

There should have been an immediate reversal of policy when it became obvious the Taliban was not abiding by the deal and were rapidly taking over.

It might be that some small level of force and continued assistance was required to maintain stability.

It would not need to have been a huge military force.

The US has military forces permanently stationed all over the world.

At the height of the war, there were 100,000 coalition forces in Afghanistan. That could have been taken down to a number of 5,000 and, along with adequate air support, that would have been enough.

I'd hardly call that "not leaving". More like 95% leaving.

So in your mind, the last 20 years in Afghanistan is no different than our setup in Japan or Germany?

Pres Biden handlers rush him off to Camp David to avoid the press, only to yank him back for a pretty awkward presser that I believe he went totally off script with all that blame game ranting prompting his handlers to send him back to Camp David. Militants like the taliallallalliban see this and they watch his baby tantrum press events where a senile old man basically flat out says he had no idea this was coming. We reek of weakness right now. I think we're going to see another 9-11 style attack here in a couple years.

It may be intentional on Biden’s part.

    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/202...tan-debacle-may-have-been-intentional-n428183

According to Holbrooke’s diary, when he asked about American obligations to Afghans like the girl in the Kabul school, Biden replied with a history lesson from the final U.S. withdrawal from Southeast Asia in 1973: ‘**** that, we don’t have to worry about that. We did it in Vietnam, Nixon and Kissinger got away with it.’”

    .

That's what happens when you lose a war... the victor destroys at will.

That is what cultural marxists would like to do to White Christians... and the vaccinated would like to do to the unvaccinated. Those are other types of "wars" where losing has dire consequences.

So what happened to the right wing's usual, "Why are they leaving, it's their country, why aren't they fighting for it - we don't want
them here ..." that they wail every time someone who has experienced violence in Central America crosses our border?

It's right that Biden is criticized for a sloppy exit - but let's be real - it was always going to be a sloppy exit because
the Taliban has had a plan in place for years.

I'm mostly concerned about the 5,000-10,000 (or more) Americans trapped behind Taliban lines in Kabul that Biden has no plan to get out. THOSE people we need to get out.

It didn't have to be so sloppy that we have no plans to get all the Americans out.

The Biden administration has already said they will NOT give American citizens priority over Afghans.

Just like the hordes of illegal aliens who are allowed to pour over the border at will... while government imposes restrictions on Americans... in the Biden administration, Americans have become second class citizens in their own homeland.

    Blah blah.

There are thousands of Americans cut off from Kabul. Quit making excuses for Biden.

Correct and what pisses me off is the deflection saying we needed to get out of Afghanistan.

Of course we do. BUT this withdrawal has been a nightmare and its not ending anytime soon.

Trump would have handled this far better.

For one thing, these islamists, dictators, etc understand strength. And Trump sticks to his word. Just like when he killed that Iranian who attacked our embassy.

The material left to the Taliban WILL be used against the US or our allies in the future.
