Flying, we learned that climate varies all over the world. Take the Sahara Desert as an example. Compare that to the climate of the Argentine Pampas.

Yes but fortunately the temperature of each area does not vary in each 24 hour period.

The yarns they spin are inconsistent with the fossil record.

Isn't cold weather caused by climate change ? Just like Hot weather, droughts, floods and any other weather that is not pleasant ? I thought the world was always 70 - 75 F before the industrial age according to the AGW cultists

Why don't you do us all a favor and have at least an elementary understanding of the subject matter. Instead of reasonable discussion you rely on insults and innuendo.

Has anyone yet identified this magic altitude where the extremely infinitesimal amount of carbon dioxide supposedly operates?

I am presently operating a natural gas room heater, supplied by the landlord, huffing out who knows how much carbon dioxide, yet this natural gas heater is entirely legal to operate inside and marked with government approval.

If they so fear carbon dioxide, how do the heater makers get away with this?

This building does have a very modern integral heating system, yet rather than use that, the Chinese supply us with space heaters.

The pictures are not from Australia. And it ain't that cold in the U.S. It is sensationalism. The stuff that keeps people watching the weather channel.

I never said that. Do you mean the Sahara desert (in my example) has a constant temperature?

    - - - Updated - - -

Can you claim it does not get that cold in Australia?

I believe that we do have areas of the USA that get even colder than that shown in the photographs.

My statement was a weak attempt at humor. I went to the dentist today in Walnut Grove. Steep climb coming up the levee.

I know that levee and just what you mean.

I was not 21 and one day, on the job next to the levee, we celebrated the end of the sand drain job and I was very drunk. Dad was driving which was good. Dad could hold his liquor better than I did.

Does it get cold enough to freeze water in Australia? In some places yes. Does it get as cold as northern Michigan... no. And a funny thing. ...as you go north in Australia it gets warmer....when you go south it gets cooler. So the north side of the house would be warmer instead of the south side in the US.

Saw this on a now closed thread:

If Climate Change Is Real; Why Are Winters Feeling Colder? Here's Why...

Then as the doomsday cult finds its prophesies failed, they either have to admit they were fooled or they are reduced to "explaining' why cooling "proves" warming. Their time might be better put studying the first rule of holes.
Wrong. And don't you love the condescension?

"Specific heat" refers to the heat needed to raise the temperature, expressed in cal Celsius per gram it's 0.5 for ice, 1.0 for water, 0.48 for steam.

"Latent heat" refers to the amount of energy required for phase change, 80 cal/gram melting/freezing and 540 cal/gram boiling condensation.
Wrong again, the phase change from liquid to steam is nearly 7 TIMES greater.
Wrong again. The Arctic which has less than 10% of the world's ice has a negative ice balance, the Antarctic which has 90% of the world's ice is growing. If less than 10% of the world's ice stores are absorbing 80 calories per gram as it melts and 90% of the world's is releasing 80 cal/gram as it increases the net heat contribution at the atmospheric level would be positive, not negative, as you are claiming.
Uh.. yeah... good luck with that.
    Always with the dramatics.
A thick blanket feels warmer in the cold than thin blanket and this "proves" climate change! Well OK then!
Direct sun is hotter than shade, also "proves" climate change! What fun!
    Extra credit, oh goody!

That is an amazing question. What if he said it was the hottest ever day? Would that be a so what too?

If you wish to argue against what is happening fine. The Sahara in the winter is often below freezing and snow is an increase in precipitation not an indication of planetary cooling. But an increase in precipitation would be a reason the desert is greening. The post says nothing really... just that snow fell in the desert. It was 40 degrees above normal at the north pole and the Sahara was 15 degrees below normal...so whatsupwith that.

Actually, you were my interest. You said so what.

If you have researched the Sahara desert, I let you lead the way. I have not. I am aware that lack of plants leads to cooler evening temperatures. Given the lack of plants, what do you believe leads to the higher water content of air? Don't forget, it is cooler, not warmer.

I reject the term global temperature average as a talking point. It means nothing at all.

When I brought it up to Dr. Lindzen, he agreed with me.
