Is the Republican Party (USA) trying to decrease wages? Many of their members have stated that they want the USA to be able to compete with the rest of the world, but do they really mean decreasing wages so the corporations within the USA can compete with cheap third-world labor? Should this be disturbing? Is this why the Republicans intentionally allowed in so many undocumented migrant workers from Mexico, and granted so many H1B visas to scientific researchers, engineers, and computer programmers in India?

    What do you think?

It seems to me that the Republican Party wants to push its own "pro-business" agenda, and has been misleading its voters. (There was a reason Fox News essentially forced Lou Dobbs to resign!) Or do most Republican voters want American workers to compete with third world laborers earning subsistence level wages?

Perhaps I am wrong, but I think that most conservatives in the USA are actually not in favor of free trade and more immigration. Why then are they supporting the Republican Party? Perhaps the Party needs a good cleansing in its ideology and the top positions of leadership? Or am I wrong?

As an educated immigrant that has been gifted many things from the US government and corporations, I say it's good.

Its based around the ideal of market resilience and efficiency. Let the markets dictate prices and wages. Do away with minimum wage so blacks can get jobs ect, ect.

Probably has to do with the redneck community Walmart resides in, and it's patrons are gullible enough to consume.

The labour market rarely reacts properly in a free setting due to various external forces that would persist even in the complete absence of government or the temporary state of 'perfect' governance in which property is protected and no more.

Also, blacks are underrepresented in minimum wage suggesting either you are correct and they're being edged out of jobs or that blacks don't want minimum wage jobs.

They are not all external forces effecting the market and wages prices ect. It is profit motive and the potential of layoffs over decreasing prices which effect the classic example of how the free market is supposed to work. The remark about blacks was sarcasm.

The classic interpretation had been thrown out decades ago. Actually, Nobel Prize winning economists have already had their models revamped by more modern interpretations. It's not longer looking at the labor market as free. It's not even looking at it as a monopsony any more. It's a new variable interpretation that doesn't necessarily find an equilibrium.

Incorrect. Laissez faire ideologues and their followers are still very much prominent. A simple observation of the threads on these very fora will elucidate this point most efficiently.

Christianity is also popular. But I believe the world to be a little older than the Bible tells me. Much as I believe more modern models of the labour market.

Please explain why your against immigration and for free trade.

( You have an issue with immigrants taking our jobs here in America, but no problem sending our jobs overseas. Weird.)

    To the OP

please be honest with your question

if you really are pro jobs then you should also state if you think it should be more state run or free market.
