Are there any Republicans who can honestly claim they are not RINOs?

Let's be honest: Trump still owns the Republican Party. He showed this at CPAC. He shows it in the polls. Those of us (myself included) who thought he might be losing his grip were wrong. So if you are not a Trump follower, for the time being, by definition you are a Republican In Name Only.

On the other hand, if you ARE a Trump follower, are you really a Republican in the true sense of the word and not just the name of the party? I mean, many Trump followers are for secession. Therefore, they don't believe in One Republic. Which means, in reality, they are not Republicans. So they are Republicans only because that's the name of the party that Trump leads. Not because they believe in the Republic.

So "Republican" refers both to the name of the party (a Trump loyalist), and a person who believes we are and should continue being a Republic.

So my question is: are you a Trump follower AND believe that this is ONE indivisible Republic in which States have some independence but should ultimately answer to a Federal Government?

You would need to be both to be a REAL Republican. Otherwise you would objectively (not in an insulting sense) be a RINO.

    Show of hands!

Damn standing room only in here :)

Would it make you feel better if I called myself a conservative, patriot or maybe a deplorable? We have many names, thanks to the creativeness of the ever-insulting Democrats :)

Sounds like a binary question to me.

Well, fine. But "RINO" is a name Republicans throw at each other. Us Democrats are just on the sidelines watching as you guys throw the name at each other. But this is not about name calling. Since I would like to understand why you call each other that, I wanted to see who was right. And, as I reason in the OP, I think both sides may be right.

What would you say? Would you consider yourself both a Trump supporter and a strong supporter of the "One Republic" ideology? Sounds to me like anybody who is not BOTH can be objectively considered a RINO.

That is the problem with labels. They are rarely completely correct.

My usual explanation is to say I'm an old-fashioned Midwest Republican; my party no longer exists.

D.C-F.D. Is the new acronym for Trump supporters. It was coined by a Producer of Tucker Carlson’s show in a text,

    “dumb, cousin-f******,dumb”.

I suppose the definition would be:

People the Republican Party’s media apparatus patronizes in an effort to maintain power.

These days, any Republican who doesn't blindly worship Trump is a "RINO." The term has no meaning beyond that anymore.

So your entire premise is based on your statement that "many Trump followers are for secession". LOL...My god that is ridiculously childish! Many Democrats favor secession as well.

Of course the term "many" means almost nothing in a country of 340 million people, but that doesn't seem to stop you from using its vaguery to push a bogus point.

What "premise" are you talking about? I'm asking a question. Do you have an answer? Feel free not to answer if you think you find your own answer disagreeable.

Your question does not deserve to be dignified with a response because it is predicated on silly, childish nonsense.

Do your grandchildren know what you get up to in here? I bet they would laugh their a** off if they knew, but also be concerned as in "papa is losing it."

Too late for that! You already responded to the thread. At this point, not responding projects the impression that you thought about it, but didn't like what you would have to answer. So there is that option. But if not that, which is it? Do you or do you not consider yourself a RINO. Which requires being a Trump follower AND somebody who believes in One Indivisible Republic.

Looks like there aren't many who can honestly say they believe in both. So my theory is that when Republicans throw the name RINO at other Republicans... maybe they are both right.

I think the Republican Party was conservative once. Or, at least, represented conservatives to a certain extent. But I do see your point....

"RINO" apples to the Bush Family, Paul Ryan and Liz Cheney.

Just because I've had enough of Trump's egotistical behavior does not mean I'm a Democrat.

I haven't thrown the name at anybody. I just want to know if Republicans are aware that there are objective parameters to measure who is and isn't a RINO.

I understand. Fewer words are better when you must confess to disagreeable "positions"
