Let's start with GDP, the country's total economic output. Four years ago, GDP was in freefall. For the past three years, it has been growing steadily. It's now considerably higher than it was four years ago.



But... the job creation rate is VASTLY better than it was four years ago. Four years ago, we were losing nearly 800,000 jobs a month. Now, we're gaining about 100,000. Our current rate of gain, moreover, is similar to the average of the growth years in the Bush administration.

Importantly, the deficit has ballooned in part because of a decline in tax revenue, not just an increase in spending. Tax revenue as a percent of GDP is about where it was four years ago--and far lower than in the 1990s.

If I were voting purely on my economic success under Obama, then I would be compelled to vote for Obama.

 

I suppose anyone who's job deals with other people's misery, like forclosing on debt issues, would be doing extremely well under Obama. Probably if your in the Bail Bonds business or a defense lawyer would be doing very well also since they have to defend the people resorting to crime to provide food for their family.

Since I sell to businesses...no I'm not better off. Cause they aren't better off. Most of them anyway. There are a couple of business industries that do well in bad economy--namely discount and second hand stores.

 

Except business are sitting on record amounts of cash right now.

 

Nope. Not small business. And as far as corporations---they are not profiting as they would in a decent economy.

I think unions are sitting on a bunch of cash.

In January 2007, I owned my own business and two houses.

Since then, my business failed and I got a job.

I had to abandon my home and it was foreclosed.

In June of this year, I lost my job and I now am back in business.

But now I have to short sell or get a modification of my second house, which I now live in.

Business is picking up slowly, but the only way I'm making it is because my father helps me.

But my father is no longer the prosperous millionaire he once was, he is now poor like me. So helping me is really hard for him.

I've heard that a lot of people with money are waiting to see who gets elected.

If Romney gets elected, they will start constructing projects, and start new businesses and expand existing businesses.

If Obama gets re-elected, they will continue to sit on their money.

It's a real-life John Galt situation.

if it wasn't for the stimulus, mom and pop businesses would really be hurting if not closing their doors about now

problem is.. if we do not address foreign outsourcing, the stimulus, like a band-aide, will need to be reapplied
