Arizona: Campaign Ad Features Lesbian Couple

Anti-Gay discrimination has no place anywhere in the world or in these United States. This ad shows that Fairness should be the order of the day. There is no room for bigotry in Arizona or elsewhere and the more ads like these that we see nationwide, the more aware people will become of the need to elect officials who will fight for and defend the rights of LGBT Americans.

Very good to see that Arizona (a state previously known for vast political corruption and right wing extremism) has progressed to the point where many there recognize that gays rights constitute human rights. I wish their candidate success in the election.

    Thanks for sharing this ad.

No room for bigotry...against liberal-approved groups. Now, against white males, conservatives, Jews, Christians, taxpayers, working people, Republicans, southerners, Tea Party supporters, people serving in the military, NRA members, and all the other non-liberal-approved groups, you're fair game. Liberals can refuse to hire you, refuse to serve you, disenfranchise you, and pretty much do as they damn well please in regards to you. AG Eric Holder does not have your back and even if you have big ears you cannot possible my Barack Obama's child.

There are more taxpayers, working people, Christians and Jews in the Dem party. However, this does not address the issue raised by the OP so let's stay on topic.

Maybe I'm more cynical but I think this just shows politicians will use homosexuals when it benefits them politically and will presumably avoid them if they think it won't. A lesbian couple being drafted in just to reference a gay-rights law isn't really equality. That'd be when gay and lesbian couples appear in campaign ads talking about taxes, schools and policing just like everyone else and it isn't worthy of comment.

Yeah, these aren't people who decided they wanted to make an ad in support of a politician.

This is a politician's think tank who decided to hire gays to say how much they like the politician's stance on "gay".

Gays, hired to make a commercial about gay rights. Hardly reason to be celebrating.

Like HonestJoe said.... use them to sell the voters on taxes or schools.

Portray them as regular citizens, not as gays.

Then you might have reason to celebrate.

Who else do you think would be more interested in creating a commercial about Pro-Gay rights if not Gays?

Secondly, the portrayal of Gays and Lesbians as 'regular citizens' is what Gays and Lesbians have been wanting and desiring since time immemorial. However, as you well know, homophobes and their anti-Gay ilk have fought hard against giving them that status and accepting them as "regular citizens" therefore, the moment they change their stance on that and portray them as regular citizens you may very well see a change in things and that WOULD be yet another reason to celebrate. Actually, they should not have to wait for heterosexuals to pronounce that since it is already Guaranteed to them under the Fourteenth Amendment, yet bigoted homophobic Americans still refuse to acknowledge that thus, the conflict has ensued to give them the status of Regular Citizens that they so rightfully deserve to have.

    Absolutely no one.

    But that wasn't my point.

    Then why are they?
Why isn't that gay couple talking about Goddard's stance on taxes or schools or roads or healthcare .... or any other issue besides gays?

Blaming that on their "victimhood" is ridiculous.

They're on TV.... the bigots would love to see them discuss issues that matter to everyone. Yet.... they don't.

You apparently don't want to understand that they need their Equal Rights first in order to be truly recognized as equals to their heterosexual counterparts and in order to be able to compete on a level field. Once that has been accomplished they can move on to other things. Absent that, they will only continue to be seen as second-class citizens thus marginalized further. That has to clearly stop and the bigotry and hate against them quelled once and for all.
