Two Cochise County officials in Arizona have been indicted and charged with delaying the certification of midterm election results in 2022. Cochise County Supervisors Peggy Judd and Tom Crosby, both Republicans, had cast baseless doubt on the integrity of the election and refused to certify the results by the statutory deadline. The indictment alleges that they conspired to delay the certification and interfered with the statewide canvass. If the county hadn't certified its results, a Republican candidate would have lost his race for the U.S. House. Judd and Crosby are the latest Republicans to face criminal charges related to election denialism.

Good to see the AZ AG prosecuting those who, without evidence, holding up an election merely because they are 'suspicious' and don't like the election results.

Let this message be sent to all the state AG's across America.

The two Cochise County officials are the latest Republicans to face criminal charges related to election denialism.

A state grand jury voted to indict two local officials who delayed the certification of midterm election results in 2022 in Cochise County, Arizona, state Attorney General Kris Mayes said Wednesday.

Cochise County Supervisors Peggy Judd, 61, and Tom Crosby, 64, voted against certifying the county’s election results by the statutory deadline last year after months of having cast baseless doubt on the integrity of the election. The county certified its election results only after a court ordered it to do so.

The indictment alleges that Judd and Crosby committed two felonies by conspiring to delay the certification of election results and interfering with the secretary of state’s statewide canvass. Both are Class 5 felonies, which can carry prison terms of 6 months to 2½ years.

Message to Republicans, either you believe in democracy or you don't. Just because the election doesn't go the way you want, doesn't equal 'Democrats stole the election'.

This doesn't negate the propensity for some who are in charge of election apparatus to exact undue/unfair influence (external rigging) on the election, such as Brian Kemp did in GA. This kind of thing is still going on, and it is Republicans who are doing it. (okay, Hillary --touche, but she's out of the picture)

They are changing state law to allow the removal of election board officials. So, for example, Spalding County in rural Georgia had three black members plus a black election supervisor — all three black members were removed as well as the supervisor. They were replaced, and the GOP now has absolute control of that board.

Yes, there have been concerns raised about the influence of those in charge of election apparatus on the outcomes of elections. In Georgia, Governor Brian Kemp signed a nearly 100-page omnibus bill that made sweeping changes to election law1. Critics, including Stacey Abrams and her organization Fair Fight Action, have argued that these changes suppress voters, particularly low-income people and people of color23.
The lawsuit filed by Abrams’ Fair Fight Action organization in November 2018 alleged that state officials “grossly mismanaged” the election3. However, a federal judge ruled in September 2022 that Georgia’s election practices do not violate the constitutional rights of voters4.

Kemp's office canceled over 1.4 million voter registrations, with low-income and minority Georgians most likely to have their registrations removed, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Over 668,000 of those registrations were canceled in 2017.

This is what I mean by 'undue/unfair influence'.
